Interesting that Farmer, Froley and Wilson didn't play against CSUN. It's a little unusual for a "must win" game. We'll see if any of them play against Hawaii.

If UCSB rested three starters and they still swept CSUN convincingly, worst comes to worst, they can use their bench: Byrd, Evans, and De Goede and they can still win against CSUN. Igiede we all know is very athletic so she will start regardless if she is tired from UCSB match.

On second thought could just be giving the seniors playing time. I think they know it's highly unlikely they catch Hawaii. Even Shimoda played against CSUN after not playing since getting benched in the Hawaii game.

I can see the Hawaii vs UCSB matchup going the same way as the USD vs BYU matchup did. UCSB will come out strong, most likely take the 1st set. As long as Hawaii does not panic, and stays steady, and consistent, do not see UCSB sustaining the emotional high, throughout the match. Hawaii will eventually wear UCSB down, and win the match in 4 sets. Just like USD did to BYU.

Hawaii has the best team. This is a cohesive unit that plays well together. It’s not always about talent. Although next season, they’ll have the most talented team based on who’s returning and who they’re bringing in. That said, there’s a lot of talent in the Big West. I agree with you and beachgrad. I was actually responding to the person several quotes back who was saying how big a talent gap there is. One key player transfers out of Hawaii, and one first team all P5 player transfers into another BW team, and that gap would be gone. I had a typo in my original post - it should have said “Torrey Van Winden transferred in.” The TVW transfer really shook things up. IMO, this is how close a different outcome may have happened. If Kash Williams did not transfer out of LBSU the Beach may have been conference champion. The team's biggest weakness was not having a terminator and Kash can terminate.

Kash is definitely a big arm, and was for the Beach. I like what Tyler is doing as far as bringing a winning mindset back to a legacy program. It was a lot to expect him and his team to win the Big West this year as the Beach as a team hasn't been together as long as Hawai'i or UCSB, or even Poly. Tyler has good pieces to work with.

Like I mentioned, the BWC has some very good young Head Coaches. These coaches should be able to bring in the talent and raise the level of competition. The one BIG QUESTION though is, how long will they stay at their respective schools.

I have no idea how that happened. Definitely the biggest upset of the entire season. That was a bad UCI team finished last in the Big West. Looking back nobody remembers this because Hawaii turned it around and made the sweet 16.

Kennedy can terminate, but Tyler chose to move her to middle initially, and then didn't force his setter to set her. Instead, Chacon got way too many sets and got worn down as the season progressed. That wasn't a player personnel issue, it was a coaching issue. The loss of Kash was big, but it's not clear that she would have done well in Tyler's system either. Kash needs and prefers a higher set a little off the net, and this system doesn't deliver that.

If only she had stayed but i wonder if Tyler can get the best out of her like how she is right now at PSU. She was a big loss to LB.

It’s also east to forget that right after the devastating loss to UCI, the Wahine barely squeaked by Fullerton at home in five sets, then got swept by Poly. Jolie went down and the team went into a funk. Hawaii isn’t a powerhouse that has a high school all-America waiting in the wings at every position.
