If you're referring to competition dates, I don't believe it takes affect until 2023. I could be mistaken, but I recall seeing a post on the rule change from this summer. that's not the entire point. the point is regardless of 28 or 32, getting matches scheduled that 4 th week has more to do with availability of teams, many of which don't want to travel (especially far) that last weekend, especiallly those in P5 conferences. Traditionally, Hawaii schedules at least two, sometimes three home tournaments (three teams plus Hawaii) the first three weeks, and has been open to traveling the fourth week, or bringing in one team to play twice the last week. This season Hawaii took advantage of a very beneficial for RPI tournament opportunity on the road the first week, which was a bit unusual for them but definitly a good move in hindsight.

Hawaii did it prior to 2021 when the conference increased to 20 matches. Hawaii filled the 4th week albeit some years with good teams and other years with not so good teams. And in 2019, they traveled to play Missouri and Baylor in the 4th week. Conferences usually don't start their conference play until until the 5th week. So I don't think the 4th week is going to be an issue for Hawaii.

The fact that these power five conferences are getting larger, it will mean less slots to fill with a mid-major, especially if they don’t help their RPI. The BW need to be proactive in order to survive this landscape. Conferences that are irrelevant will be undesireable when it comes time to scheduling pre-conference matches. I wouldn’t be surprised if Hawai’i gets invited to a power five conference in the near future, especially when the new stadium is built, the conferences without football will slowly die in the other sports.

BWC Teams need to hit to hit the Transfer Portal hard and often, just to be competitive with the Wahine next season. I truly hope that they do, bring in quite a few transfers. The Wahine need the other BWC teams to be competitive, challenge them for the BWC Title, next season. That would only help them come NCAA Tournament time. What will not help, is if the Wahine just flies through an easy BWC season.

CP is losing their three starters, hope their coach finds players that can battle for the BWC title.

What will not help, is if the Wahine just flies through an easy BWC season. Let's not forget that the Wahine had some 5 set matches and actually was defeated once in conference. That is still pretty dominate, but things also could have gone the other way on occasions/nights. I three loss Wahine team would likely have lost the title to UCSB. Secondly, do we really need to tell fans what their teams need to do? I'm sure every team in the big west tries to maximize their roster as best they can. Lets face it; Riverside might be a harder sell than Hawaii. It is what it is.

She was fun to watch when she wasn't playing against Hawai'i. If she wants to go pro, I think we'll see her playing oversees. Phillips and DeNecochea are big losses as well as those two provided veteran leadership to the younger Mustangs, and they were good players in their own right.

I went 15 for 16 on First/Second Team in terms of players and 13 for 16 for correct spots. My freshman team was 7 for 7 and perfect for major awards as well
My honorable mention was off for sure, glad players like Baron & Hifo got honored.

Alexander was ROBBED of first team honors. Also think tayli deserves second but ehhh Alexander wasn’t first team stats wise. In conference only play her numbers were similar to that of Kennedy and Frolley. Her aces numbers also came mostly in non-conference so she wasn’t even top ten. Ikenaga also wasn’t top three libero in the conference

Ikenaga also wasn’t top three libero in the conference I guess lol. And she would of made “first” team if they didn’t split it this year. It’s just odd to see one of the best freshman to date in the big west not make first team
