I will gladly admit to Schermerhorn proving me wrong so far and looking pretty solid. Hope she continues to improve!

Thought maybe Eva Hudson might earn Freshman of Week…but never Big Ten Player of Week. Her being the first Purdue player ever is pretty amazing. Very happy for her.

I’m just going by what was posted on the official team Facebook page. Who was the first Purdue player to earn both in the same week?

I’m sorry. I misunderstood your post. It’s fine…no worries. I did want to know the answer if the post was wrong on Facebook.

Every team would love this kind of freshman production. Does it last? Yeah, Purdue wouldn’t want to over work her and her be burned out later. That has happened a few times to Purdue players. Coach Shondell has been around long enough to know how and how long to push players. I am hoping that he can mold her into an Ariel Turner type of player. Doesn’t have to be flashy or have the most kills…but do all of the intangibles that doesn’t always make it on the stat sheet.

I gotta say I was impressed with the two grad transfers (Balensiefer and Clayton). Replacing Bush and Trammell was a big ask, but so far so good. And Maddie Koch was fantastic. This is going to be a very interesting season.🍿

Hannah Clayton was a very nice surprise. Cannot wait to see this team live this weekend.

Jael could tackle better than a couple of Purdue’s defensive backs 🤬

Looks like today's game against Utah will be played at 6:30pm and will be live on the Big Ten Network (thankfully not B1G+). Be sure to check it out; should be a good game against a Utah team that was ranked, but is now just receiving votes in the latest NCAA rankings.
After watching a replay of last week's game against Tennessee on YouTube (shhhhhh), I will say I am impressed with Hornung, Koch, and Hudson (Colvin too obviously). We definitely need another pin to step it up because Hudson can't beat some of these Big 10 teams by herself on the pin. I would also love to see Clayton get more involved offensively, but she is doing well blocking.

Well through 6 games, I'm convinced most of the positions on court are locked down, except for two, maybe three:
L1: Chinn is okay here as long as she doesn't have to pass. But she hasn't been very terminal from the left. Ellis is... I don't know what's going on there. While I think Chinn and Koch have improved over their four years, Ellis looks to have regressed. She's still a great left side blocker and defender, but her attacking errors are getting really bad. Into the antennae, under the net, way long, into the net... you name it, she's done it over the last few games. And her passing is worse than Chinn's. Purdue is desperate for production in this spot because teams are going to target Hudson on defense when she's back row. If the pass isn't there, Renner is going to the L1. I'm not as confident with a two-person serve receive as I've been over the years when we had Otec/Hornung/Schermerhorn back there, so someone has to step up and be that player in this position.
OPP: Koch is a great blocker on the right, but she's been very up and down offensively. Chinn is a much better right-side attacker, but her blocking is meh. Neither is standing out consistently, but Chinn is making the plays. They could move Koch back to the left, but again, passing.
I also don't know if Renner is a lock yet. She can be really good (vs. Utah) or really off (vs. Tennessee). I know it's a passing issue, but she's also had some really iffy connections during transition. But I think she'll get there. Before the conference starts? IDK.
