The team decided they'd just rather not play for a whole freaking season, and now they are down to 6 player son the roster because 5 players with eligibility chose not to come back. Keep making excuses for coaches, Volleytalk! I've never known the story behind the team opting out of that season. Was it really the decision of the players? I assumed it was made for them, not by them. That would be so much worse. Why would that decision ever be made FOR them? |

My understanding is there were a couple of factors:
They had some kids "opt out" of 2nd half of season due to virus concerns. Players were allowed to do so per NCAA and conference rules.
They also had some injuries.
This combination and possibly other things led them them cancel 2nd half of covid season.

I believe Crouch is changing the culture of the Auburn program (for the good, from players I've heard from). Some of the previous players weren't on board with him, or he wasn't on board with them, which caused them to part ways and not have enough to play the spring 2020 season. But this fall 21 season they had players that bought in and worked hard, and won more matches than anyone thought they would. That's progress. I think many programs are down to low numbers for the spring. Not everyone carries 20 kids on a roster and when your players graduate, you're clearly going to have fewer spring players. I don't think it's fishy that kids with COVID eligibility want to actually graduate and get on with their lives. This is different than last year. These seniors had a normal year. If they can graduate, why would they want to stick around? It's not like Auburn is going to be playing for a National Championship. I commend the kids that have completed their education and are ready to move on to the next chapter. Auburn has a good freshman class coming in and I think it's a program on the rise. Best of luck to them.

Both assistant coaches have left the program. also happened at Stanford and I don't think anyone is freaking out...or at Baylor too. From what I understand Rick was known to be a short term staff member due to wife's job, with Dunphy hard to blame someone when Stanford comes calling and you are from CA. |

I don’t know if Stanford will be too keen on her about getting a bigger clipboard since their mascot is a tree Since Kevin uses an iPad, I suspect Alex will bring her iMac, plug it in at the scorer’s table, and use an extension cord to hold the monitor in her hand.
