Hopefully after these wins and solid games from akima you keyboard warriors can cut the nonsense about setters playing libero and focus on something reasonable You better start figuring out how CAL POLY is going to make the postseason with a 3-7 NC record. Winning the Big West??? Yea big guy winning the big west is exactly how they make the postseason.

The LBSU vs Poly match this week will tell us a lot about both teams. Regardless of their non conference record, I believe Poly will be a very solid team once they get a little more healthy. Probably a decent crowd for this match so I hope my LBSU team shows up to play.

This team befuddled me. 0-7 then 3-0. I'm hoping we have figured something out.

This team befuddled me. 0-7 then 3-0. I'm hoping we have figured something out. Tough schedule. They competed well, for the most part. Only the UCLA match looked like a blow out (and UCLA was w/o Luiper). The Portland State match was one they should have won, was a bad loss, but maybe fueled a hard look at themselves and the following 3-0 turnaround. And, the competition wasn't as good, which helped. Bullis, RS Freshman setter, was better the last few matches, to the point Denecochea didn't look missed. Akima looked more seasoned in the back row the past few matches. Hiatt was out for a bit in the losing stretch but made it back strong the past few matches. Cal Poly has its strengths and weaknesses, but is clearly in the top tier of the BW heading into conference play.

Having Hiatt back in the rotation is great. The match against LBSU on Friday very big in the overall bid for the championship. Coach Walters has left herself on a single road to the postseason,...unfortunately.

DeNecochea would improve the blocking even more if she sets, not sure she has Bullis mobility. the main thing is receiving - and at this point it's performing better in back-row whichimprovemens may be easier said than done, with this roster. if you throw out teh Portland State loss, and they just looked flat, which I attribute to likely funk at the end of long weekend/travel and super tough 5 set losses, they have won 9 straight sets after going toe-to-toe with two top 20 teams. No reason to think it's a horrible position since they lacked personell that first week. 5-5 would have been decent considering the SOS. Certainly in consideration to have a shot at the title, given the parity this year in the Big West.

Two years ago, I thought Mia Dvoracek was the best player in the Big West. Maybe this year she becomes Player of the Year!

This team befuddled me. 0-7 then 3-0. I'm hoping we have figured something out. RPI Futures of 0-7 teams
21, 23, 37, 58, 90 (Utah valley), 121 (Portland State)
3-0 teams 245, 72 (N CO), 169
They probably should have beaten Portland State and maybe Utah Valley. The win over Northern Colorado was a good win. But for the most part, they beat bad teams and lost to good ones. Pepperdine, Northwestern, and Washington are really good teams. I think it was impressive that CP took Pepperdine and WA to five sets. Let's hope that playing so many good teams helped them identify problems and fix them.

If DeNecochea is back they’re very formidable!

If DeNecochea is back they’re very formidable! No word from the coaches on Avalon's status. It will probably be a match day decision on when she get cleared to play. Have not even heard about the cause of the injury. So,...guess when her presence on the court happens it will be a big surprise to all. Let's hope since she is a senior it happens soon!

If DeNecochea is back they’re very formidable! if she's not back, they'll be very formidable they have the best block in the conference, and have done that vs. some quality opponents

Will teams that have been good in the past continue or will the bottom half become the spoilers?

I doubt DeNecochea will play tonite for CAL POLY.
So,...having won three in a row,...will it be the momentum needed to take match one of the Big West???
After some 10 matches has this POLY team formed the right chemistry?
