Lazaro is such a plus on any team especially when given any chance to contribute with playing time. I was excited when I heard she was coming. always thought she was really good at usc. I didn't expect her to be so good at setting tight balls tho, she is uniquely good at that skill compared to a lot of other setters Lazaro has lived up to her billing as a total team player with awesome attitude

Indeed. That, plus her incredible mobility, plus Elena Scott being available as a bail out setter leaves me not being worried about getting at least a decent set out of just about any ball. She's such a smart player. She has played great and USC loss was a huge Louisville gain

Cards win this Natty and get rid of the narrative that a female coach can't win a Natty. DBK is very deserving to make that first achievement.

Cards win this Natty and get rid of the narrative that a female coach can't win a Natty. DBK is very deserving to make that first achievement. Cards will have to play as well, if not better, than their semifinal match; however, they have the tools. Position-by-position comparison (unofficial, solely based on watching semis last night): S - even. Think both setters do a great job offensively and defensively. Despite being smaller than some of the hitters they faced, neither seemed to be a blocking liability. M - slight edge to Louisville. If Kong can match her fire at the end of the match she had vs Pitt, that could tip the scales in Louisville’s favor. But, O’Neal’s offense will play a significant factor in the outcome for Texas. RS - slight edge to Louisville. Again, solely based on semifinal matches - Jones will have a big task of slowing NPOY Eggleston. She will not stop her completely, but if she minimize her scoring, Louisville can take the title home. Phillips seemed to lick into some of the kills last night (not a good connection but the ball fell). Like O’Neal, if Phillips can score that will take the pressure off the outside hitters. OH - slight edge to Texas (but it’s really close). Both teams have terminal outsides. Eggleston started slow passing vs San Diego, but settled as the match progressed. Skinner faced a smaller block and made San Diego pay. Both OH’s from Louisville are really good players and DeBeer looks like a tournament MVP candidate. L - slight edge to Texas. Fleck seems to be playing on a different level at the moment. Her first contact seemed to be very solid. I’m excited to see if Louisville’s potent serving will have her as a target (doubting it will be though - too many other options). DS - edge to Texas. Passing will be key when the DS’s are in serve receive. Coaches - even. Tough call on this in my opinion. Elliot has been there as a head, DBK has been there as a player and as an assistant. Both teams have future Head Coaches on their benches. Too close to call. Atmosphere - edge to Louisville. Both teams appeared to have brought a good amount of support with them, but Hisker nation seems to be fully behind DBK. Going to be a fun match. Wish my team had made it there. Good luck to the Cardinals and fans!

I hope it will be a competitive match! Who wants it more..I will give to Louisville. I watched the Kong interview! She is fantastic! Such a leader, I can't wait to see what next year will bring for her.

Good luck to the Cardinals and fans! Not a bad analysis, though I’m not sure I’d agree with all the details. FWIW, some posters in the Texas thread have poo poohed position by position comparisons. Seems to me the passing is going to be key. As I recall from the graphics on Thursday, the tourney top five in aces has four Longhorns and one Cardinal. That Cards player looked really good in serve against Pitt too. Whoever does the best job of putting pressure on the other team will come out of it with the trophy, IMO. All that said, go fighting DBKs!

I will go out of way to watch this match because Louisville is playing in it. Either Louisville wins it or they get swept by Texas
