I don’t think the cast of players around Mac May in each of her seasons has been quite as competitive as this next year is looking to be without Mac May. I think UCLA has the potential to have an amazing season without her or Fleck, but it was their impact in the last couple of years that helped bring UCLA back into the conversation.

This makes 0 sense as it’s pretty much the same group. The only arguable upgrade is at middle with Forte. Setter maybe too but it’s not like Martin was a slouch compared to Mckossick. Downgrade at libero for sure, and the same pins. Whatever kept luper out last year is the only reason ucla didn’t progress farther. Ucla with luper all season would of been a threat for the title. Uclas success this year will depend on luper even more so now that May is gone and jacobs transferred. UCLA has the potential to be good, but they had that potential last year too.

that lineup could be crazy OH: Luper, McCall OPP: Ndiaye MB: Forte, Dodson S: McKissock L: Cole is a really good team. just need consistency from Ndiaye. Luper is the best player in the conference and I'm hearing good things about McKissock and Ndiaye in practice. I expect UCLA to be top 2 in the Pac again next fall.

You’re definitely a little biased. Luper is a great player but she’s not the best player in the conference. I may not be as close to the program as you are but that’s kinda ridiculous to say

Do you have the ability to read or do you only just chime in with whatever the only nonsense singular thought that your brain is capable of holding at a time? UCLA’s potential around Mac May last year was the best they had since her freshman year when she played opposite of Buechler and Gates was in the middle. I literally said EACH of her seasons, not just last year. Even then they had holes in other spots. Obviously libero is going to be a downgrade, Fleck is the best collegiate Libero in the country, no freaking duhh it’s going to be hard to replace her. McKissock is an upgrade, Forte is an upgrade, the 3 pins projected to play will all be experienced and hopefully healthy, and Dodson had a fantastic year last season. Dodson and Forte will both have great backup in Alupei. The balance in the projected line up can be potentially much better than the rosters that had Mac May. Not because they will be better than her but because the amount of players who can be effective spread out better than they have been in past seasons. So save your lmao for when you’re looking at yourself in the mirror

The “best” player will remain to be seen once the season comes but I think it’s fair to say, Luper will be the best athlete to return to the PAC

Nuneviller is definitely one of the best in the PAC and has definitely improved her athleticism from past years.

People always base athleticism entirely vertical and that isn’t all it entails

but regardless I think Luper could/will be up there with Nuneviller/Baird/Kipp/whoever else but I need to see how she has recovered from whatever the health issue was last season

I don’t think the cast of players around Mac May in each of her seasons has been quite as competitive as this next year is looking to be without Mac May. That’s what I took from this quote. Which I countered saying that last years team, IMO is arguably more balanced than this years team. They have one upgrade in the middle. Last year the pins were as followed Hadrych, Jacobs, Luper, May, ndiaye, McCall. I’m confused on how that supporting cast doesn’t measure up to this year. Unless I’m totally misreading your post, that’s makes 0 sense to me. And your pathetic attempt at a read failed too btw.

You’re literally the only one who is talking about vertical…. it’s pretty clear that when talking about athleticism people only mean vertical unless they specify I think for a true freshman, defensively the amount of court she could cover as well as hand eye coordination and general ability to move were all pluses. I’d have to know the VM numbers in comparison to the others but I will say Kipp is probably not up there in anything besides vertical. I would need to see more of Baird to compare her court coverage ability but she has an arm and is a steady enough passer.
