www.reuters.com/lifestyle/sports/fivb-proceeding-with-world-championship-russia-as-planned-2022-02-25/UEFA moved the soccer championship to Paris. F1 canceled their race in Russia FIS (skiing) canceled their world cup stop in Russia. The IOC has now encouraged the cancelation of all international sporting events in Russia and Belarus, and suggests they stop recognizing the flag of those countries. FIVB says we are going ahead with the men's world championship in Russia. The Mayor of Amity Island thinks this is a great idea.

it's sponsored by Gazprom. This is of no surprise. CEV shared the same sentiment.

I imagine Poland will, along with other countries, but it also depends on how the situation escalates/de-escalates between now and July

Monza and Perugia refuse to play any CEV matches in Russia.
All international matches should be suspended immediatley and future tourneys moved.
No discussion
No...this will NOT be over soon.
Russia invaded a sovereign nation and they need to be pinched hard in every shape and manner.

I’m surprised that FIVB thinks this move is more apolitical than changing their plans. Then again, I’m sure it’s about the $$$

I’m surprised that FIVB thinks this move is more apolitical than changing their plans. Then again, I’m sure it’s about the $$$ they should've said they're reviewing the situation..... and then went and asked the USA/Japan if they're interested. Japan would be guaranteed money... USA has potential, wasn't chicago in the VNL a big success?

I’m surprised that FIVB thinks this move is more apolitical than changing their plans. Then again, I’m sure it’s about the $$$ Cannot justify spending 1 dollar, Franc, Euro or Ruble etc. That helps the Russian Economy. Plus even if Ukraine is forced to captulate you can bet that Russia will remain in a state of war and that war (terrorism) will enter the Russian Motherland. Doubtful they can guarantee the safety of our athletes. Besides....no way ours ans other countries allow their National Teams to go.

Polish Volleyball Federation
"On behalf of the Polish Volleyball Federation, the Polish Volleyball Community, I declare that in view of the invasion of Ukraine, we currently see no possibility for a sporting competition with teams from Russia and countries that support the aggression of the Kremlin.
We base our position on moral grounds and concern for the safety of Polish athletes. We cannot be indifferent to the unprecedented aggression Ukraine is facing today.
At the same time, we would like to emphasize that we do not hold Russian athletes responsible for the actions of their state authorities, but we cannot remain indifferent to the victims of the conflict. Let us stand together in solidarity with our friends from Ukraine."
CEV and FIVB are meeting this weekend to discuss matters.
Ngapeth said he won't play if they are held in Russia.
