BTW that's a real shame, even the FIDE has cancelled the Chess Olympiad (kind of Chess World Team Championship) that was scheduled to take place in Moscow this year, and we all know what chess means to Russia... it's actually Russia that is 2021 gold medalist.

I'm just wondering for the foreign players in the Russia Superleague though: are there some pressure put on them , specially Jenia Grebennikov that still have family in Russia ? (His uncle lives in Nijni Novgorod) How's the Micah Christenson's situation ? Tine Urnaut and finnish coach Sammelvuo ?
edit: I've forgotten the most important problem: what's happenning for the ukrainian players like Dmytro Pashytskyy ?

Not surprised, they are following the Ministry Of Sports policies after all. But I hope they know about Jenia's situation.

FIVB declared that they are moving the VNL stops in Russia to other countries. They are waiting to further reevaluate the situation for the World Champs. I guess I’m more reassured now that they would move the championships if the situation is still dire.

www.reuters.com/lifestyle/sports/fivb-proceeding-with-world-championship-russia-as-planned-2022-02-25/UEFA moved the soccer championship to Paris. F1 canceled their race in Russia FIS (skiing) canceled their world cup stop in Russia. The IOC has now encouraged the cancelation of all international sporting events in Russia and Belarus, and suggests they stop recognizing the flag of those countries. FIVB says we are going ahead with the men's world championship in Russia. The Mayor of Amity Island thinks this is a great idea. I am still laughing at the Jaws reference

They are waiting to further reevaluate I mean, that on its own speaks volumes on FIVB's priorities...

I guess I’m more reassured now that they would move the championships if the situation is still dire. Well the CEV has already moved all competitions from russia and ukraine until further notice.
As the FIVB probably has to "discuss" the situation with the CEV, its biggest confederation, let's hope they'll cancel the WC for good and move the competition to another country.
