Yes, that's exactly the kindergarden's level tweet that upset them. sure, but let's not pretend that ngapeth or his setter are lily flowers either 1. It costs money to host the events, why didn't his own federation France want to host a leg? Why were they outbid by a federation that doesn't have a volleyball team?
2. I recall there were plenty of fans in the Philippines for both men and women, why did he single that venue out in particular ("20 fans")? 3. The fact that philippines doesn't have a volleyball team in the VNL and is still willing to host should be commended, not mocked. Normally hosting has benefits to the host team, which obviously isn't applicable when the hosts don't even have a team in the competition.

Dude, they're not complaining about the Philippines. It was just an example (and a bad one, for sure). They're complaining about the stupid long and tiring NT schedules.

The professional, respectable thing to do is to complain solely about the issue at hand and not about irrelevant garbage. Would it be acceptable if there were thousands of fans in the Philippines venue? I'm not sure why fivb is expected to be professional to people who are not professional to them, the hosts, or the fans.

I'm not sure why fivb is expected to be professional to people who are not professional to them, the hosts, or the fans. Again, no question that Toniutti's words were inappropriate (and dumb). But that's not the point. The point here is player's health. Many players are feeling like the FIVB don't give a %*$# about it. And we, the fans, are part of the problem. We wanna see games every fn' day. But then we should not complain if injuries' number is increasing, if Zhu needs a "bionic wrist", if Boskovic plays a ECH final half-injured, if more and more players say no to NT ...

So has the VNL experiment been a failure? (personally i think it definitely did not live up to expectations)
I think in the end, the VNL is going to be a relevant event (with top players participating) only in 2025, 2029, etc. because there can only be one main event per calendar year.
in the first year of the quad, there is nothing the second year has the world championships the third year has the olympic qualifiers and the final year has the olympics.
The last such year was 2017 - before the VNL was the VNL - and if I recall correctly that year boskovic did participate with most of Serbia's A team. Zhu has also been used sparingly in the VNL/WGP since she went to Turkey.

When one legend falls... it gives the opportunity for another one to rise. At first I thought the 'Winzerlation' was a part of this post and not just your signature line. TBH, it completely fits. Someone make a T-Shirt with this saying on it and Winzer's face and I'll buy it.
