FC Elite earned the 3rd Open bid by winning the 5/6 playoff match over NKYVC in 3 sets - don’t know why AES doesn’t show that accomplishment 🤯 FC Elite scrapped and clawed to get that bid; they definitely earned it. Elevation 18 Spinney has been on a crazy hot run these last 3 tournaments, winning Bluegrass, OVR Regionals and now winning MEQ (without dropping match). Adversity had a huge win on day 2 over 1st Alliance, and then they continued that momentum on day 3 to earn their bid. How about Paramount VBC 18's double-qualifying? They are a relatively new club (started 7 years ago) from the CHRVA Region and have already earned 3 open bids (including double-qualifying this season). Impressive.

Metro (obviously) and Paramount are the only two clubs from that Region that are consistently competing in Open and winning open bids.

Elevation 18-1 is lead by Brooke Bultema. She is absolutely dominating the net. She is better now that she was in January. Kentucky is getting a MB who is going to have an immediate impact on their team.

You would be surprised at how strong Chesapeake is getting. I grew up watching my niece play for Coast. Metro was just getting known. Now you have Metro and Paramount. A lot of people do not know about Blue Ridge. They focus on beach but are getting into indoors. There indoor teams compete quite well with Metro and Paramount in local tournaments but they do not play in qualifiers. From what I understand this may be the first year they play in the Chesapeake Bid Regionals to go to Nationals.
Last year one of their teams went to AAUs and finished second place in one of the nonopen divisions (16's or 15's), losing the third set something like 17-15 in the championship match. Kennedy Spaid is a 2026 that as a frosh led her team to the Class 4 Virginia State championships. She plays up for Blue Ridge 16 and in the latest tournament Blue Ridge beat Metro 16 and Kennedy could not be stopped.
MVSA has a 14 team that had a 2028 player dominate a 14 open tournament. They also appear to be getting stronger.
One of the interesting things about the Paramount third place finish is their best hitter had an injury that prevented her from hitting. She played libero. Grace Maria, a 6'1" libero. When they first qualified she led the team in hitting. For their second "double" qualification she led their team in passing. That is versatility.
The Chesapeake is rising fast. Metro 18 has qualified three times in open. Paramount 18 has qualified twice in Open. Metro 17 qualified for Open. Paramount 16 qualified for a USA bid in the Sunshine qualifier. When I first came here the only teams that went to Junior Nationals were the teams that qualified playing in the Chesapeake Bid Regionals.

"Iron sharpens iron". When you have multiple strong clubs in the area, that improves the other regional clubs fast. Look at FL, TX, CA, KC........their local tournaments prepares them for Open level play. Nice to see multiple CH region teams rise up......fun to watch.

Great weekend in Indy, with tons of colleges represented. I saw mostly 17s and 16s, so cannot comment on the 18s other than support the earlier posts about FC Elite, who gritted through to a bid.
For the 17s COJrs and Dynasty 17 stood apart all weekend and deserved to play in finals. Interestingly, I saw Izzy Starck as OPP than as Setter, and wow is she a monster hitter/blocker. Seems she is taller and stronger than just a few months ago. Dynasty (now a double qualifier) runs a very quick offense, and Reese Messer always has 4 options so keeps defense on edge. Their team defense is probably their strongest trait.
Triangle looks strong, and probably gave CoJrs their toughest match of the weekend in the semifinals, and proved their national ranking as the other double qualifier in the division.
In the 16s The talk of the weekend was how strong this division is. Sunshine champ HPSTL was out of gold on Day 1, and 3rd place GamePoint out Day 2. Every day counts, and there are a lot of high quality teams, as evidenced by pretty much every Power 5 school 2-deep on the main courts. KIVA and Circle City fought a tough final, with KIVA prevailing 25-23, 28-26. Their libero Kristen Simon is a star, covering 2/3 of the court in a 2-person serve receive. KIVA's middles were lethal all day Sunday, particularly Addison Makun. CC played typical solid defense and first contact, and Pin Logan Bell and Setter Ava Hunter run a high tempo offense.
Both teams went 3 sets in the semifinals, CC beating MK Sting, with Madison Quest and Gaby Pitcel helping to earn an Open Bid. Though missing the finals, Tribe is now a Double Qualifier having taken 2nd in Sunshine, and Setter Charlotte Glass, Pins Tekoa Barnes & Kelly Kinney looked great, but the revelation on that team is libero Zoey Matias, who seemed to cover all of downtown Indy.
It's worth noting that after 3 Qualifiers, these teams are still searching for a bid: Legacy, A5, MiElite, Austin Skyline, Boiler Jrs, and AVC.

So many high-level, loaded teams that still don't have a bid yet. I have a feeling there will be a good chunk of teams that don't qualify in Open that were expected to do so.

Charlotte Glass might is one of the best prospects in the country for all age groups. A friend of mine told me about her so I had to go watch for myself. Yep, she is the real deal. What separates her from the pack is her leadership on the court. I have seen very few players that lead their team as well as she does.

Yeah, CoJrs 17 were really good last weekend. I’ve seen quite a bit of them over the last few years and that was by far most impressive play I’ve seen from them. Izzy Starck is always fantastic and the team is long and athletic. They seem to have found a groove this year. Dynasty played well all weekend, but CoJrs really punked them in the final. Didn’t see that coming.
