Omaha Presidents Day has really fallen off in terms of quality of teams since the NIT went to KC. Circle City is still going to St. Louis but their open divisions are not as strong either.

Makes sense. As a team that wants the best competition, where would you want to compete? Omaha or NIT? Plus the quality of the teams at the Open level is still high, it’s just that the very best are at NIT.

AJV, A4, TAV, & AZ EVJ are clearly the top 4 at this one. All with 5-1 or 4-2 records so far.

Sports Performance also has a President's Day tournament this weekend. Used to be a big event. Not so much anymore.

At the Capital Hill Classic Metro pulled a sweep in almost all of the open Divisions. Metro won the 18, 17, 15, 14 and 13 divisions.
The 16 team got upset by a Blue Ridge team that has two impressive left sides in Ada McCoy and Kennedy Spaid. Kennedy is a 2026 playing up. After losing Metro had to play a good Puerto Rican team Mets and lost 25-17 and 29-27, knocking them to the silver bracket.
The 16 Open was won by Pittsburgh Elite. Elite Volleyball Training Center in Ohio took second. Virginia Elite finished third and has a player to watch named Evelyn Jurden. She is used in a two passing serve receive, is their alternate setter, stands 6'2" and has an approach jump just shy of 10 feet (Edit: Ana Toumazatos was the girl involved in serve receive, not Evelyn). Talk about versatility. The team also relies on her to hit a number of 3 meter sets.
In the 18 Open, Paramount and Metro battled it out. Metro won 25-21 and 25-15 but Paramount was playing back to back matches. Neither team lost a set going into the championship match. Both have bids for the Junior Nationals.
In the 17 Open Blue Ridge finished third. They lost to Carolina Juniors in the semis (25-23, 15-25, 15-11).
A number of teams from Puerto Rico in the tournament.
