There are a lot of great job non-conference matches around the country this season but I’m especially looking forward to this one.

Might be surprised how little difference that makes.

Gators win! Don't they typically play very well early in the season?

im really excited to see this match because these are the two teams I think could either have a breakout or break down year. both have the individual talent to be top 10 teams imo

Gators win! Don't they typically play very well early in the season? The last match in Gainesville between Stanford and Florida in 2019 was a 3-0 sweep by Plummer, Hentz, and the Card. Plummer had 21 kills and Hertz chipped in with 15 digs. Due to hurricane Dorian, the match was almost cancelled. I'd rate the 2022 match a toss up. I'm thinking Stanford's a little better, but Florida is at home so that should even things out.

I’m honestly surprised the poll is as close as it is (for now). I picked Florida because I’m hopeful and obligated to, but I’m curious why others have? So many question marks to start the season

Stanford 3-1, no more Hall Dang I didn't realize Hall was done. That was a quick 4 years. I remember how good she was as a Fresh

im really excited to see this match because these are the two teams I think could either have a breakout or break down year. both have the individual talent to be top 10 teams imo I wrote in the Stanford thread that this will be the early preseason bellwether contest for SU. After going up against both TN St. and Lipscomb, I don't think too many early indications for the future ('aspects' as I call them ) will be shown then, compared to what'll be gleaned from the outcome of this match. As far as the final score is concerned, I voted SU 3-1. Honestly though, it could easily be the opposite!

Does this look right for Florida? What are the team's strengths? Question marks? Share your opinions or the fan consensus with those of us who don't follow Florida.
S: Stucky RS: Beason/Robinson M: Kelley M: Essix OH: Markova OH: Victoria/Robinson/Beason L: McKissock DS: Canaan My guess at Stanford: S: Miner Opp: Kipp MB: Vicini MB: Smith/Francis* OH: Baird OH: Rubin L: Oglivie DS: Pringle/Beaven/Armoni IMO Stanford is really good at blocking and pretty good at serving. Kipp and Baird give a strong pin attack. The middle attack is not strong (or at least wasn't strong last season). Floor defense is questionable. Pringle and Armoni are new to the team. We hope they help with that. Rubin was a very strong 6 ro player in high school. We hope that translates to college and helps with our defense but we won't know until we see her in action. This match should help fans (and coaches) evaluate our team.
ETA: *Francis played on the left last season but I think she'll move to the middle this season.
