I'm not sure who wins, but Florida is at home, and there are questions about Stanford too. Should be an interesting match. Though as of right now, Stanford has a pretty significant edge in the total votes, so while some are picking Florida, they're in the minority.

IMO Stanford is really good at blocking and pretty good at serving. Kipp and Baird give a strong pin attack. The middle attack is not strong (or at least wasn't strong last season). Floor defense is questionable. Pringle and Armoni are new to the team. We hope they help with that. Rubin was a very strong 6 ro player in high school. We hope that translates to college and helps with our defense but we won't know until we see her in action. This match should help fans (and coaches) evaluate our team.

I think Stanford's offense is good enough. The question is if their defense has improved enough from last season.

Kipp will be the best RS in the country and one of the best pin blockers. I am taking Stanford in 4. More time to gel should serve them well they never quite found their footing last season Florida should be a lot better as the season progresses but edge to the experience to the Cardinal in this one I think.

The offense is probably good enough for this match. We'll see.

Leilah Smith being injured her whole Stanford career (and now medically retired) has been a setback for the middle attack. Both Baird and Kipp are good at attacking from the back row and having last year to mesh with Miner should help. I'm not sure about Rubin yet or Francis in the middle (if that's where she ends up).

I agree that the floor defense was Stanford's biggest weakness last season. Can't wait to see if that's better this season.

FL scrimmages Jacksonville this Saturday.  Lineup questions will be answered.  Not sure Essix is the M2, and OH2 is up for grabs between the three that you mention and C. Hendrickson.

Florida lost a lot of firepower with Ceasar and Hall graduating. Who do you see replacing that? How about their passing and digging?

I think Mary might give the freshman a shot at the other OH spot, if not she would go with Victoria.
Beason is a lock in the RS- she excelled there last season, and with the talent that is on the roster, there would be no reason to move her from the right

IMO I think Hambly will try to spin the dial so he's got Kipp blocking Markova as much as possible. The other worry is Beason, so Baird blocking Beason is optimal for Stanford. If the Gators can match Beason against Rubin, that's going to enhance their offensive chances.

I saw that looking at Florida's roster. She's an impressive transfer.

What about Robinson? She was #2 in kills/set in all of D1 last season and #2 in points per set, only trailing Lafayette's Leana Deegan. That's really impressive.

Have you watched either of them much? Where do you see them fitting in? Last season, I liked Beason when I watched Florida play.

Markovas attack stats are pretty wild. 4.5 kills per set hitting over 300 in the ACC is incredible. Her passing isn’t like good but she passed a 2.00 which I mean you can accept with how terminal she is

Chillun, c'mon now! Markova is ok...but, her stats in individual matches for Syracuse, against upper-tier teams, were a nosedive regression (.185, .205 v. Pitt; .235 v. Louisville; negative v. Notre Dame) from matches against South Alabama, Albany and Ball State. It's good that UF found someone...though she certainly ain't any Second Coming.
