I’ve got UofL in my immediate family, and UK in my extended family, and I’d say I’m a UK and UofL volleyball fan (moreso the first)! I think being a fan of both Kentucky teams makes sense because they are both “up-and-coming” programs, fighting against the blue bloods in the PAC and B1G. If they continue to play every year, and both teams continue to be elite, I could see the rivalry mirroring basketball, and it will get hard to root for both. Also as an aside: my experience is Lexington hates Louisville more, but UofL hates UK more. Both because they are kind of the “little brothers” to the other. Lexington is honestly just a very big college town. Well, and the state capital. There's plenty of political rivalry between the two cities as well. UK is also the big state school. And then you have the horse racing dynasties. Lots of areas of competitions between generations of families. You can add the Catholic/Protestant aspect to some extent as well. the state capital is Frankfort. but yes donut you are correct. Lexington hates Louisville more and UofL hates UK more.

I know I forgot because I associated UK being in the capital, but Kentucky is hardly uncommon with that not being the case. I do still maintain there are significant political battles between factions from the two cities.

everyone agrees the starting lineup will probably be Eggleston/Skinner, ONeal/Caffey, SKT/Phillips (Akana), and Fleck?? Also if this is the starting lineup on friday and they play will do you think we will see any changes for saturday?

Also I am not sure if this has been mentioned, but has OSU played any games prior to this weekend? I can’t imagine not playing a scrimmage or at least 1 exhibition before facing this Texas team.

Also if this is the starting lineup on friday and they play will do you think we will see any changes for saturday? Depends on if TX wins on Friday and what the margin of victory is. If we dominate, then JE has more latitude to clear the benches and play some different combinations (at least for first game starting lineup). If we lose or it's a close call, he's going to be more conservative. Gotta be mindful of the RPI. I think Bergmark/Caffey swap out is the most likely, with SKT/Ewert being the second most likely. ETA: I think most people agree that what you have will be the starting lineup for the first game. But, again, if we are in a comfortable lead, JE might mix it up within the same match even.

And that lineup played pretty well. I’m not sure what to expect on changes, I only hope it’s lineup changes between matches Bergmark/Caffey/O’Neal/Parra/ Devin/Molly/Madi, Akana/Halter, etc. and not in the middle of matches or sets. Ohio St is too good to mix and match between and during sets IMO.

OSU had an intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday. The starters only played set together with the other 3 being a mix of starters on both sides.

I agree with you entirely, but I also think people have been convinced a little hard by Paul Sunderland. Lol IMO Logan's throw against Nebraska in the fourth set was a frustration play and it looked like she was trying to pitch a softball. Him going on and on about how that wan't any different than the others and Salima being like "... Um well... yeah..." I felt for her. I agree. some of those throws were definitely a little questionable. I think Texas was benefitted if anything due to the amount of points Eggleston scored throwing the ball aside from the one time they actually called her for it I think Sunderland is a great play-by-play guy but his take on the throws in the aforementioned match was a lot too much black-and-white for me, "either call it or don't call it." There are certainly ways to judge what's a throw and not a throw that would lead to some of them being called and some not being called. Plus, if a player is going to play on the edge of the rules, they and their team need to be prepared for when a few of those edge plays are called, and to brush it off and go after the next play. If you don't want to have to deal that situation, then don't play at the edge of the rules. (of course, this is easy for me to say because I think the throws are an abomination that are completely against the spirit of the game, but mainly I want to defend the ref's ability to call some edge plays and let others go)
