The semester doesn’t start until the 6th after Labor Day. They’ve been in Austin eating BBQ and swimming on rooftops and bowling since leaving TCU. Oh and some practicing at Gregory. All this gleaned from social media.
It’s nice that the Longhorns didn’t mind us showing up early, and that they’ve enjoyed some down time at the end of summer.

There’s a ton of mutual respect between Elliott and McCutcheon.

I just don’t see Texas losing this game. Minnesota should be going in with nothing to lose - hopefully that helps them and puts pressure on Texas. Regardless, looking forward to and hoping for some December like volleyball!

Have classes started at Minnesota? I could see doing this either way, but staying makes it a nice trip for the team. You're about right on the travel time. They would have left today anyways for Austin I’m guessing so that’s just one more day of classes (Mon) missed right? That's what I would assume also. Don't know their exact schedule, but I could see them spending Sunday in DFW and then going to Austin yesterday.

Always take pride in being good hosts until the teams hit the field or the court.

I will personally take take them on 24 hour BBQ tour of Central Texas. We wouldn’t want them to be malnourished be for the game.

Predictions on TX lineup? Do we see the same folks who started against Ohio State? Or does Ewert get the start?

Predictions on TX lineup? Do we see the same folks who started against Ohio State? Or does Ewert get the start? The only difference I could see would be Bergmark for Caffey. I don't actually think it's going to happen, but the rest feels pretty set. There is zero chance Ewert starts. The question for me is how much time at setter does she get? nelly nel was pointing out to me she went in with Kahahawai late in sets versus Ohio State to have a bigger block up front than SKT provides. I don't see why that would change. But overall it seems to me the priority should be getting reps for SKT and the middles/Skinner. The timing with Eggleston and Phillips looks in midseason form to me. But basically you have Akana for 3 rotations, Halter for 3 rotations, Fleck as libero, with Eggleston, O'Neal, and SKT at the net with those three in the back row for a spin cycle. Just shows how much confidence Elliott has in that trio already. And they've earned it, without a doubt.

I hope so as well as Halter has played I still think Madi is playing at a high level and would like to see her get some attacks from the back row.

I could see her get some rotations there, but would it be to start off? I also hate it she’s not serving right now. Halter’s serve rotations have been effective, so I’m not actually complaining. I just thought Skinner’s serve had some potential.

I would much rather have better passing to get Caffey more involved than have Skinner get more backrow looks, esp with Logan in the front row.

I would much rather have better passing to get Caffey more involved than have Skinner get more backrow looks, esp with Logan in the front row. I do want to defend Skinner in saying she’s not a bad passer at all. Halter is just so dynamic in the back row. Not many players in the country are going to be as productive as she is back there. I know that’s what you meant and you didn’t mean it as an attack on Skinner. Just wanted to throw it out there. Also, the difficulties with the timing on the quick middle attack goes beyond passing. We’re getting really good passing. But the relatively small percentage of attacks that aren’t going to Eggleston/Skinner are going to O’Neal’s slides and Phillips - wherever she happens to be lined up...including in the middle, lol.
