Nicole Branagh will be the color analyst!!!! Every team gets a homer to do their games except Texas on its own network. Lol I didn’t know that’s how it worked. How convenient!

Its not bad but I just think it’s funny when watching the B10, ACC, SEC their generally is some passive rooting for the home team or at least plenty of accolades like being reminded how the B10 invented and perfected volleyball 50 times a match. But Texas seems to go out if it’s way to ensure neutral color commentary on it own Network.

I’m probably just sensitive.

Ok so this isn't shade but what's different about this Minnesota team save for Samedy and a new middle? I didn't really think Texas struggled that much in Minneapolis last year (save for the back row play) but I'm interested to hear how Minnesota looks with the two matches they played this year!

Also, middle production has improved a bit, which will really help the pins get more one on one opportunities. I still see Texas winning, but Minnesota could put up a fight.

In particular middle production. Plenty of options for terminal hitters which will be useful against the big block at Texas. Also freshman MB Booth put up a pretty strong block consistently in the first couple matches. Lots of depth as well, not sure if Wucherer or Davis will play but there are quite a few viable options to throw out if someone is struggling (although Hugh historically doesn’t change his line up a lot, we shall see). And of course CC and killkelly, both a little bit older and a little bit wiser and steady as ever in the backrow.

Booth’s blocking has been incredible so far. And obviously losing Samedy is huge, but for me there are definitely some unique pros. When Samedy was here I feel like their offense became very predictable, especially without a middle presence. So I would say that is a big plus this year is having a more diversified offense which in turn puts more pressure on the Texas block. Will be an uphill climb for them regardless, especially if Wucherer isn’t available/at full strength.

I'll be tuning in to see if the University of Texas Athletic Department has managed to get Akana a damn jersey with her name on it.

I didn't really think Texas struggled that much in Minneapolis last year (save for the back row play) but I'm interested to hear how Minnesota looks with the two matches they played this year! In all honesty unless Minnesota plays out of.their minds and the Texas All Stars suffer a bit of a slump it’s going to be a challenge for the Gophers, IMO. That said, Shaffmeister looks improved. She’s a 6’3 setter who provides a great block and 2nd hit dump. I don’t think she’s quite as good as Podraza, but at least Shaffmeister has a decent serve. Her connection to Booth and Husemann on the quick middle attack looked way better than UT’s, but I don’t know that it’s better than OSU’s was with Rader and Powell. McGraw is not as good as Murr, IMO. I don’t have a strong opinion on Kilkely. Landfair looks awesome. The best left pin Texas will face all year until the tournament. Don’t know about her passing (Samedy was Da Bomb ion defense) but her back row attack looks on point. Minnesota runs as fast of an attack as there is in college volleyball, so the Texas block and back row will have to be ready. I expect something similar to the Ohio State match on Friday, where every match is competitive, but Minnesota will have a tough time closing Texas out. I don’t think Texas is as terminal as last year. Skinner seems less terminal than Fields was. Caffey/Bergmark aren’t Butler. But the backrow is in a different galaxy in this early going than anything I’ve seen at Texas before, while the offense is still being effective on the attack. I do wonder about Wenaas on SKT’s block. OSU wasn’t that strong with their left pin, while Minnesota has two really good ones. Overall Minnesota has a ton of better weapons and McCutcheon is a great coach. Minnesota is a legitimate challenger to being the title winner of the greatest volleyball conference in the history of mankind. This could very well be a preview of a rematch in Omaha. It’s going to be tough for me to doubt this Texas crew until I see them really struggle, particularly in serve receive. If Minnesota shows they can go on long runs from the service line - like Londot did in the 2nd set on Friday night - I’ll get a little worried. But if they’re trading points to 20 for the most part, I feel like that’s a place Texas is going to excel. But, we’ll see. With all three of these first opponents I have a tremendous respect for these programs. I love the home and home with the Gophers and hope it continues as infinitum, as long as McCutcheon is there. I’d like to say I hope for a great match, but I really just want a win, however it comes. I’ll root for a great match when Minnesota plays Stanford shortly.

Is there a link to a replay of Texas Minnesota last year? Because for the life of me, I can’t remember that match.
