Has there ever been a discussion of tossing out each team's highest and lowest rankings? Everyone voted Texas #1 or #2. Does tossing out their highest and lowest rankings mean they would get 0 points? vballfan17 , it looks like there were a total of 31 voters, but 41 are shown as members of the committee. Can the actual voters be shown instead of the entire committee?

We've always shown the full committee since there are weeks when some voters are too busy to submit but they're still part of the committee.

After looking at this poll I don’t believe any real case can ever again be made to criticize the AVCA poll. After the first week the sample size is small enough that head to head matches that did occur should be absolute and controlling in these rankings, but they are not. For example, how can anyone place Wisconsin in front of Baylor, in this poll? If you did, your ballot is moot. I also think not ranking LBSU is comically wrong. But hey, it will all work itself out. I just found it on the floor laughing hysterical that in this “superior” poll Wisconsin continues to be ahead of a team that beat them during the first weekend of the season…based on what? -not based on the only criteria that matters; on court play during the 2022 fall season. The AVCA poll has been bashed bashed for this, but the VT poll has proven itself to be no different. That would be your opinion - and one that I strongly disagree with. My ballot at this point represents who I think will be the best 25 teams over the course of entire season, not who won a single match.

If you threw out each team's highest rank and lowest rank (if all 31 voters ranked that team), the only changes would be: Louisville & Minnesota would swap spots Mississippi State & Western Kentucky would switch spots

The question would be whether any one voter was trying to game the system by voting a team much higher or much lower. I suppose with 31-40ish voters, the impact of that would be minimal.

Who put Washington and Oregon at 6 😭 I had Washington at #6. I think they are the best team in the PAC and as good as any team listed after Texas and Nebraska. They won 51.1% of the points @arkansas this weekend, who is a top 25 team. I would have expected a #6 team to win both matches against a #25 team about 55% of the time. This wasn't some huge upset for Washington to split - and not inconsistent for the #6 team in the country.

Who put Washington and Oregon at 6 😭 Not me, both in the mid teens although I have Arkansas in there and LBSU on the cusp. They are a nice team and definitely surprised the Ducks. If they play like that, they will be BW Champs.

I do appreciate you bringing data into the equation to justify your rankings!

Pablo was high on them and they return everyone. I also give little weight to the first match of the season - for ANY team. ANYONE that should be good can look bad (see Wisconsin) and plenty of teams that shouldn't be good can turn on an impressive opening round performance and catch someone off guard. We've so much parity in the first week over the years, it really should just be expected at this point.

Badgers are too high right now. They have a lot to figure out. I give even odds of them losing to Marquette this weekend, who you guys have at 23.
They will come good eventually, they are just not there yet.
