Curious if you have seen them play or just basing your opinion on conjecture? They replaced their 5'10" setter with a 6'1" setter. They replaced their all American outside hitter with a third team all american/conference player of the year in Otene. With the exception of one of the two middles they play all the rest of the hitters are 6 rotation players. And their top returning player Bergman spent the summer playing on the Brazilian national team and may be the best player in the nation. Every team in the top 10 lost players from last year. The good teams develop talent to replace them. Ask BYU if they think GT is a top ten team. Looking forward to the Ohio State matchup Sunday. Should be a good one. if you’re argument is to try and convince me that this gt team is better than last years you’re not going to. Otene is nowhere near what Brambilla was. I was def a bit harsh on GT but my reasons for being skeptical were valid and you’re not going to convince me otherwise. They def proved me a bit wrong today though Top 12-15 is still really good. I find it hard to honestly judge the rest of the team when Bergmann is so automatic at producing points, whether she’s hitting, serving, or blocking. She’s the equivalent of an NBA player playing on a college team. The opponent has to be good enough to somehow limit her touches, so all Georgia Tech is really required to do is reduce their errors and keep the ball in play. The longer any rally goes on the more likely it becomes that Bergmann is going to end it. She’s the biggest force of nature in collegiate women’s volleyball right now.

Yikes. I'm trying to remember the last time that a starter for an internationally elite (medal-contending) foreign national team was still playing collegiate ball in the US. Jordan Thompson three years ago lol That's why I said "foreign" lol

Her weakness is passing though, serve receive in particular which better teams will exploit. But, like you said, as long as the ball is popped up and errors limited, she’s a huge threat. I would love to see her play against Texas 🤞 and I love that she’s bringing in a TON of Brazilian fans into the NCAA volleyball world!

No offense but did you base this off anything at all or just assumed "Big, dominant hitter = poor passing" ? Bergmann has been a great passer for years.

Yikes… here comes the mob 🫣 I’m basing it from what I saw at the VNLs and I can’t find solid serve receive stats either. Happy to be proven wrong in the name of friendly discussion of the sport

Happy to be proven wrong in the name of friendly discussion of the sport well for 1. She held up very well at VNL. 2. Even if she didn’t do spectacular in her first real high level international outing it wouldn’t mean much because the serving is way tougher internationally

Julia's weakness is her passing *and* she's one of the best passers in the country.

She carries GA tech on her back and I’m here for it. My comment was meant to point out any minute weakness she has that another team could work off of, every player has one and that was my take on hers.

Julia’s weakness is her blocking. It’s poor compared to other pins
