I am too. It’s better to have a face plant early, shake it off, and win the match than not to have it at all Glad you got to see your team…lose? Well, as I mentioned in the foregoing post, I didn't watch the match, only saw the score. So I didn't see either team lose or win. However, I'm glad my Coogs outperformed all the chest-thumpers' predictions to beat the spread. Obviously, the talent disparity in this match was large, and it would've been a massive upset to beat Texas on any court, and especially in Gregory. I'd like to say this is the year Texas doesn't choke, but I can't say I'm feelin' it. I love the hate! Join the club. Fellow Texas schools Texas Tech, Baylor, A&M, TCU all have jackets. Just glad we're getting out of the conference. Time to make some more fan bases hate us. Our arrogance isn't a bug. It's a feature!

Brain dump:
I thought UH would come on ready to play and they were. No one is going to be intimidated by UT’s roster. Everyone will want that pelt on their wall. It’s up to Texas to show up, and like I said even in a 24 game schedule asking people in their early 20’s to show up 24 straight times isn’t easy.
Set 1: Nothing to see here, move along. I’m actually impressed Texas got as close as they did. Flat out embarrassing. Out served, out passed, out hit, out dug.
Madi seems to be either on or off. She was definitely off tonight. She’s got to find a way to keep her confidence up. But this is where the depth comes in to play. Parra was freaking on. I will say it again her shot selection is so much better than when she started.
SKT did not seem to have a good night, lots of low sets.
Honey Badger for President. Hands down NPOY. She takes out so much trash I’m beginning to think it’s an NIL thing.
Sets 2 & 3 the Texas serve came alive. Game over.
Set 4 Houston battled but in the end too much Texas, the overpass kill was a fitting way to end it.
Lastly these 8pm games need to stop. Nellynel needs his beauty sleep.

Just between you and me, I almost always root for UT when they play any team from out of state, and it varies by situation against other in-state schools. However I always want them to pound Baylor

They seem to doing just fine regardless of my wishes to the contrary, however. That said, I do like houstonbear a lot.

Lastly these 8pm games need to stop. Nellynel needs his beauty sleep. 100%. If ppl can't tell from the broadcasts, the average age of a Texas season ticket holder is up there. Especially in the chairback sections, lots of white hair. 8pm start is too late - we need to start at times where the crowd has energy to get loud - the team absolutely feeds off of the crowd energy in the Greg. Tonight felt very subdued. Same as when we played Nebraska last year, also an 8pm start and subdued crowd.

I understand, but once postseason comes around a lot of the students and younger aged people start showing up

Did I see that correctly, calling Hooker the 2009 NPOY, or did I imagine that? Sorry Megan, you’ve been canceled by the LHN. I thought maybe they were meaning volleyball magazine, but they clarified that for Logan, but didn’t make the same distinction for Hooker. Maybe I misunderstood.

Bergmark hit negative. Caffey hits zero. That won’t happen every match, or potentially ever again, but give me a lineup where Molly moves middle, Parra is OH and Madi is on the right where she ultimately belongs.

I’ll be intrigued to see if this will happens. There were many OOS sets to Molly and she didn’t really convert on them. I think she hits harder in the middle.

I've always thought MB was Molly's most natural position. She has a quick arm-swing and can move the ball around. In-system, she is great on the right pin...but out-of-system, it's like giving the team a free ball. She did well her freshmen year starting at MB when Butler was injured during the non-conference matches. If neither Bergmark nor Caffey can be consistent at MB2, might as well try Molly there. Agree that Madi belongs on the right. She just doesn't seem comfortable being an out-of-system hitter on the left pin, but that's what being OH1 has to do. When she struggles hitting, it affects her entire game. Now that Parra is showing more consistency on the left side, Madi should be moved to the right pin. She can be terminal there and won't have as much responsibility having to hit out-of-system. If either are struggling, Devin can back them up.

This is going to sound like an attack, but I don’t mean it to be. I believe speculation like this is exactly what message boards are for. That said, I would love to have a little clarification of your position we should move Molly in the middle in part because she’s not productive on out of system swings, and instead move Skinner over there because she’s uncomfortable with out of system swings. I know there’s more to your thought process. I just want to give you an opportunity to clarify your position, please.

An ugly win is a win. But sets 1 and 4 - Yuck. Texas will still stay #1 in the AVCA though, if only because not enough people can get LHN to see those games There is also the whole not losing thing they have going on, in addition to the impressive wins.

The 8 PM start time was because the soccer team's match at 6 PM was also being televised on LHN. Wish these 2 programs would coordinate better as rarely do either play home matches/games on a Thursday, but do so on Fridays.

How would UH and Pepperdine compare? I think I saw Pepperdine vs Nebraska but honestly can’t remember. I’d think they would be close Pepperdine maybe being better but don’t know.
