Can we get some discussion and thoughts on how the first round went overall? Meh. Beat the teams they should. Didnt bother with the good team. Round 2 will be more telling. Stonks Up: Carlini, Chiaka, Frantti, Stevenson Same: JWO, Hentz, Washington, SWP, Poulter Down: Cuttino, Drews, Kelsey, Bajema, Tapp

I’m thinking Karch didn’t want to show the full A-team in a potential rematch somewhere down the line.
But then again, they technically have 3 days between now and the next match against DR. Will he go full force then? Carlini or Poulter?

Can we get some discussion and thoughts on how the first round went overall? I think for the USA, we closed out sets when we needed to (for example, against Canada Set 2 and Bulgaria Set 3). Let’s not take today as part of the discussion. Was Drews chewing gum today? Maybe that’s the key lol

She is a defensive outside hitter and should not be expected to get a lot of scores. And the setting ate bad where she can only tip the ball. Drews' situation is a little bit worring. No Cuttino for sure in later matches, Karch knows that. Bajema may replace Drews if she is struggle. Tapp is no worries, anyway, because she cannot pass stevenson/chiaka/even Washington.

She had one poor match after having an injury.

Will he go full force then? Carlini or Poulter? Ummm.. USA/Karch should/will go full force. Just to point out how thin the margins realistically can be: let's say USA lost to DR, Thailand beat Canada, and Turkey beats Germany, USA would find itself in 5th place and the pressure would really turn on at that point. And given that DR is the most emotional team in the world.. the last thing you want to give them is confidence/belief by messing around with non-starters. Get them down on themselves early, keep them there, and it's smooth sailing.
