It will take me a little time to calculate, but I don't think the additional travel time would be more than about 2 hours per flight leg than UCLA/USC currently experience. The midwest is not Europe ... or Hawaii.

Those kids are going to spend 20x the time in airports than they are the beach. I also think the general public is pretty Clueless as To how much free time these kids have to do things. I think people understand that student athletes are very busy. Doesn't change the fact that living in LA >>> Lincoln for many people. And for many people a Midwest college town is >>> LA.

I can appreciate that. Not sure recruits value that over being a rockstar vs nobody on campus/community and having a nice chunk of change in your pocket from NLI money. It's NIL, not NLI. And it depends on the recruit. Obviously, Nebraska is doing well in recruiting, and that should continue. Personally, you'd have to pay me a ton of money to ever consider moving back to Lincoln. I lived there for five years, and it's an absolute hard pass for me. But not everyone feels the same way I do. That’s a silly thing to correct, but ok. I also don’t think it depends on the recruit. I’d probably bet an average non starter at Nebraska does better than a top player at UCLA. Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t think so.

I’ve been doing it for about five years now, and the travel west to east isn’t that bad. The return trip is kind of grueling. I think the point isn’t a bunch of kids from the Midwest are going to flock to the socal schools instead of Nebraska. Nebraska will always get theirs, no matter who they’re competing with or what the climate is. But the appeal of living in LA for a few years may be enough peal away a couple high level recruits from that hotbed of the country every year. And that might just be worth something

It will take me a little time to calculate, but I don't think the additional travel time would be more than about 2 hours per flight leg than UCLA/USC currently experience. The midwest is not Europe ... or Hawaii. OK, calculated it. I swear I did not change a single number to fit my hypothesis Current P12 -- LA to (in minutes of air time): LA/LA: (n/a) Phoenix, AZ, 85 Tucson, AZ, 88 Palo Alto, CA, 77 Berkeley, CA, 80 Eugene, OR, 140 Corvallis, OR, 150 Pullman, WA, 162 Seattle, WA, 171 Salt Lake City, UT, 110 Boulder, CO, 144 Total: 1,207 Ave: 121 minutes per flight legI don't know how the West and East Divisions of the B1G will play out. One might expect Illinois or Northwestern to move to the East Division, with UCLA/USC joining the West Division, thus forming 8 teams per division. Let us suppose that for Volleyball, UCLA/USC will play each or the 7 other teams in the West Division home and away, and play either (3) or (4) (depending on how many non-Conference games the B1G wants to allow for) of the teams in the East division, home and away, rotating on an annual basis. B1G (Possible) -- LA to: West Division B1G LA/LA (n/a) Lincoln, NE, 189 Iowa City, IA, 210 Bloomington, Indiana, 235 Champagne Urbana, IL, 225 West Lafayette, Indiana, 235 Minn/St. Paul, MN, 215 Total: 1,309 Ave for 6 campuses: 218 minutes per flight legEast Division B1G: Lansing, MI, 250 Madison, WI, 240 Ann Arbor, MI, 270 University Park, PA, 300 Columbus, OH, 275 Chicago, IL 250 (guessing on East move) New Brunswick, NJ, 320 College Park, MD, 295 Total: 2,200 Ave for 8 campuses: 275 minutes per flight legIf UCLA or USC were to take, per year, 6 flights to B1G West Div. games, a 4 flights to East Division games (which they won't because most weekends will be two games): B1G:6*218 + 4*275 = 1308 + 1100 = 2408 / 10 = 241 minutes per flight leg, B1GIf UCLA or USC were to take, per year, 10 flights to P12 games, 121 minutes per flight leg, P12Extra time on each flight leg, B1G v P12 -- exactly two hours.

Seems like all these experts seem to lose sight that the travel for USC and UCLA is going to be really time consuming. Truth Word

Traveling is a small price to pay to live in a much more desirable place in my opinion. Those kids are going to spend 20x the time in airports than they are the beach. I also think the general public is pretty Clueless as To how much free time these kids have to do things. B1G teams travel on private jets…. Their airport experience is riding the bus onto the tarmac. If that isn’t the case in the PAC now, they could see their travel time actually decrease.

This made sense recently, but the point is that USC and UCLA will be in the Big Ten very soon. So it's the best of both worlds.

and they weren't even mostly players he recruited, or developed. It's sort of like how the president gets the credit or blame for whatever good or bad stuff happens on his watch, regardless of whether his predecessor had more to do with it. Kinda like how Reagan got to claim credit for freeing the hostages in Iran even though the captors really just held out that long out of deeply felt spite for Carter. (Fresh on my mind after watching the HBO documentary.) No Politics!!
