So, you're telling me that Turkish army is not bombing Iraqi Kurdistan anymore, lol? Yes, better back to VB. Did you even read my post, see this is my point, this is completely off-topic, neither is this about racism, you are just using Kurds to feel more comfortable about your own situation which as a Kurd I tell you to get the f* of our backs and it's fake af. Sadly everyone has been bombing Iraqi and Syrian Kurdistan but the issue is not prevalent inside Turkey as I said, the issue is more complicated than it appears and one where I don't side with this current government and neither does the majority of Turkey hence why we will change governments. But the PKK which does have power there has been internationally recognized as a terrorist organization and has been bombing Turkey for a long time as well as burned kilometers of forests inside the country, hence it's one Turkey is fighting against as well right outside its border. The regions its most active are Kurdish regions as well... So you are not onto something. I think the conflict will come to and end soon if you guys stop intervening and arming terrorists against both the native people and your allies maybe! Right now Iran has been boming Iraqi Kurdistan as well, and Syria not long ago as well aka all its neighbors. But without outside influence the conflict would have been solved a long time ago. Dude - and this is my last reply to this - you're describing Turkey as the land of integration and tolerance and Western Europe (and World) as fully poisoned with racism and intolerance (and as the reason of all Turkey's issues). C'mon ...

i remember this happening, and im pretty sure almost all of the racist comments were traced to accounts outside of england. The english team is popular around the world. I might be a little off base here, so if im wrong, i apologise. There was a strong anti black/brown contingent within England that was complaining about Saka, Sancho and Sterling in the england squad even before the Euros. As in many countries, it's not a nearly a majority, but it is substantial, vociferous and stubborn, and it the abuse wasn't just online. Sometimes there is also just toxic fandom exploiting racism to hurt players from teams they don't like. That has the same effect. It just exploded after Saka missed the penalty in the Euro's shootout against Italy. To the credit of the England team and the great majority of british football fans, there was a really strong outpouring of support for Saka. He was only 20. He has managed it all pretty well, but all the black players have talked about the challenges pretty openly. As I understand it from people on the ground, Italy is seeing pushback against immigration from this same faction, and revisionism about Mussolini. Because of the strange electoral politics in Italy that give them undue influence, this faction feels empowered right now, just as Brexit empowered this faction in the UK. Anyway, I wish Egonu the best. You have to worry that bearing the burden of this kind of thing can only last so long before you have to just have to take a break. It doesn't surprise me that the breaking point is now.

As even that wiki article said almost all of the incidents was by foreign fans. Some of englands biggest stars for decades have been black.

The reason the premier league engages so heavily in antiracism is precisely because there is a deep history of racism in English football. It's better, but to think it's not there is just mind blowingly crazy. Please don't get your info about racism in sports from wiki. I would trust what the players are telling you.

Funny that this was by far the most expected final on here before the tournament and it was the bronze match oof You will soon find out why. (If Serbia has not hidden its true strength until now).

aged like milk Serbia has hidden its true strength. You're not going to tell me it played like this all the time. Come on. I can very well see the difference.

You brought up this debate to deflect from your own issues not me, good morning; the conversation was about Egonu, an Italian player, I just respond back and point the obvious.

As a Black woman racism in England and all of Europe is horrible. You just don’t know because it is not broadcast like in the States. As someone who traveled overseas in the military, played volleyball and seen first hand it is bad and Italy is known for it. The most disrespected individual is the Black woman and yes it is blatant in women’s sports. Just because you don’t hear about doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. I wish Egonu the best. No matter who you are, no one deserves to have to deal with racism just trying to do what they love. Now back to VB.

People actually saying that Egonu shouldn't quit are insane. Why the hell would she represent a Italy when she gets %*$# on daily by some of the Italian population because of her race? If I was Paola, I would've gone a while ago.

Italy does have a facist past, so racism is no stranger to that country, unfortunately. And that country just elected a far-right party to government, a party with fascist roots.
Still, to be perfectly fair, lets not stereotype an entire country of 60 million, shall we? Many Italians are NOT racist. And there are plenty of Italians who support Egonu, even if their voices are sometimes drown out by the "bottom of the barrel fans".
