Italy does have a facist past, so racism is no stranger to that country, unfortunately. And that country just elected a far-right party to government, a party with fascist roots. Still, to be perfectly fair, lets not stereotype an entire country of 60 million, shallwe? Many Italians are NOT racist. And there are plenty of Italians who support Egonu, even if their voices are sometimes drown out by the "bottom of the barrel fans". The past is irrelevant to me (although yes, italy does seem to have voted in an 100th anniversary edition of benito)
The most incriminating evidence IMO is the fact that last world championships (2018), one of the sponsors of the Italian NT (some water brand) placed their water bottle over Egonu in the advertisement picture (presumably to avoid showing her). So their media already have a history of attacking Egonu for racial reasons.

This is the clip of Egonu's initial outburst to her manager after the bronze medal match, where she complains she is very tired and fed up with people asking if she is Italian:
So the question remains, is she just "taking a break" from the NT as she later claims or is she done for good with the Italian NT?

Explained in a few lines however it gives a false explanation of the facts. I don't want to bore you with what Italians don't even care about however the results of voting in Italy has very little to do with the arguments of the government nor by those who lead it. I would then leave alone the case due to publicity (Mazzanti at the time said that in the photo of that match Egonu had not played and it was Sylla and his wife, Serena Ortolani, who were covered). I would not be surprised if they took advantage of such a misunderstanding to increase its resonance. In Italy, however, there is a good number of mentally minded dumb jerks who use anything to hurt others, even using racist arguments (so there are more mentally minded dumb jerks than racists, but we don't brag about it).
Sorry for the WOT.

Sorry for the WOT. There are mentally minded dumb jerks in America too I assure you. In fact, they are found pretty much in every country. Retarded "fans" and critics of certain coaches and players...all too common sadly.

No comments on Hentz/JWO? I didn't get to watch only live stats feed. Were they bright spots or just struggling as the rest did? They were just neutral. As others mentioned, overall the team played poorly. One thing that worries me A LOT lately though is Karch's clear ability to create insecurity and doubt in our players. He's now been using JWO for serve reception in some cases while then throwing in Hentz for defense. How on earth can we create consistency and trust in our players with this erratic style of coaching? I only see this type of libero swapping in like 12U lol. I can already see JWO playing differently because of this. This also directly translates to Carlini on the NT. There's a reason why she thrives overseas and does not thrive in the nation gym. People can gripe all they want, but at the end of the day it's the coaching staff's job to encourage and trust their players and Karch seems to provide awkward direction. Did Carlini have a bad match? Yes. But it seems like the cloud lingers longer than it should and causes players (not just Carlini) to wither vs. overseas it seems to not be an issue

WTF! She gets racist abuse and her nationality is questioned every time the team loses and she's dramatic? You're the worst!

No it’s not. She needs to stand up for what she believes and show the next generation that quitting isn’t the answer. Are you really an idiot or you like to act like you are? What she needs to do is show future generation she will not take the abuse and represent people who don't value her.

come on this is unfair and absolutely unnecessary not at all dramatic I disagree. I don’t agree with what she’s been through but to give up is never the answer. Those before her didn’t quit in the face of racism. I want her to stand her ground and fight. Fight for what? She does not need them. She could easily go play for any damn team she wants
