I don't think we'll see a purge like we saw in 2018... but they obviously need someone to really step up Looking to 2024 is the big goal now... who is gonna stick it out or just be done? Setters: Poulter, Carlini, and Hancock will still lead the way... I don't see anyone challenging them without having major improvements. Opposites: They need JT... but given her health (and unluckiness)... they need someone. Sorry annie, tokyo was great... but they need more options. Plummer should do what she can to transition to this spot.... Id like to se Khalia transition full time too but she doesnt want to. Who else is out there? None of the NCAA'ers will be ready unless they go pro this next season. Middles: the attachment to washington needs to be dissolved... if she's on.. she's one of the best middles in the world... but she hasnt been "on" in months. Chiaka will have her spot as long as she wants it. Improvements from Butler, Rettke, Stevenson will all be welcomed. Outside Hitters: probably the most inconsistent position this summer. Kelsey has a role to play, no matter what you feel about her... Bajema and Frantti are not consistent enough... and SWP seems to be Hill'ed. Others like Logan and Brooke are gonna get their chance in 2023... who else (Skinner, May, whoever) is gonna step up and take that next step.. or just wait for MBH or Larson lol Liberos: JWO needs to get healthy... Im not sold on Hentz at all. She looked out of place against the best hitters. She needs to go overseas... and if she doesnt want to... Fleck is gonna get her shot in 2023.. along with someone im definitely forgetting. (and no its not Kendall White) Setters: Agree. Oppos: What about Samedy? She’s in Perugia this year with Dilfer, maybe she catches Karch’s eye and gets a serious look? Middles: Interested to see what Rettke & Stevenson-Hall look like after a full season of pro. OHs: Are you thinking Nuneviller as on OH, or a Libero?

Unless she finds another level, especially on OOS attacking, she's a shorter version of our opposites from the past 10 years. Definitely as an OH. USA needs ball control.

I thought Nuneviller trained with USNT as a libero? Or she could be OH/L utility in the mold of Megan Courtney

fingers crossed pressley gets the rest/recovery she needs so she can fight for a spot next summer. i think we have loads of talent, but i'm not so sure the ncaa is the best place to incubate talent. a lot of our players graduate and are years behind their international counterparts who've spent the past four years playing professional vball. and when our players peak...they have a very small window of being elite/really good.
but oh well

Wake me in 2024. Also, I'm not sure what the alternative to the NCAA is supposed to be. Not many American 18-year-olds would choose to play overseas over getting a full-ride scholarship.

You don’t know anything about international volleyball. The Olympics is not all that matters and if you think usa didn’t do everything they could to win gold this world championships you’re mistaken

That tournament is going to be a joke

The Olympics is. That's what I'm talking about. I was being a bit hyperbolic in my initial statement. The world championships matters to people in the international volleyball community. But it's not the Olympics.

This thread is about the USA women's national team, so the USA is the country that is most relevant here.
