I like San Diego, they are very talented veteran team. They are worthy of their ranking and they can challenge anyone. And say what you want, they need games like this to challenge them.
The biggest thing about them being in a smaller conference, is the ability to relax. They can get relaxed because they’re sweeping a lot of opponents. I promise you, San Diego wants Pepperdine, LMU and BYU to play their best against them. They need the challenge, the feeling that every single point is important. They don’t get that week to week like a team in the BIG10.

USD should be more concerned about the passing and Blossom being a step late and not squaring up more so than going 5 with LMU (top 50 team). If they pass like last night I see them being an elite 8 team possibly being upset in the sweet 16. I would really like to see them in the final 4 but I don’t think last nights ball would be favored against any top 5 team.

Didn't watch the match, but SD going five with LMU isn't surprising to me. LMU has some really solid pieces and will sneak up on ya. I thought they had waves of play that looked VERY impressive against Nebraska, and I can only imagine they've improved a ton since then. I think this post-season is gonna be one of the more entertaining ones we've had in a while.

PS, not tryna involve myself in all the junk I just read, but the top of the WCC is just as good as the top of any conference in the country IMO. SD might not get pushed often, but that's more a reflection of how good they are than how weak the conference is. It's just like TX and the B12 -- when every team circles the date on their calendar when they get a shot to bring you down, you're gonna play some close matches bc you're getting everyone's best.
(Also, the B12 for what it lacks at the top, doesn't really fall off that dramatically. WV is winless in conf play, and I think they're better than the bottom 2-3 teams in every other power 5 conference.)

In a pretty big game for B12 standings vs Iowa St they had 780.
