I think playing at home with livable salary would have much better draw than playing overseas for some of these players. in theory maybe... but some of them arent gonna to jeopardize their 23/24 gig/salary for something that already isnt living up to expectations... The team has to pay them if they sign a contract right?

that sounds naive... they need 112 players. Last year 300 were playing overseas... Given the level (or lack of) for some of those transfers... its even less than that. And a ton of them are signing right now (because its guaranteed vs PVF) You might get 20-30 NCAA players in the fall... maybe 30 players from AU... that's still a ton of players they have to find from somewhere... I think playing at home with livable salary would have much better draw than playing overseas for some of these players. That raises the question of how one defines a "liveable salary", that varies between players and teams of course, but there has to be at least some kind of ballpark figure.

Keep in mind this is also a salary for like 4 months. They can seek additional sources of income for the other 8 months of the year.

And different cities where the teams are based have different cost of living, some are more expensive, some are cheaper...

Didn’t they say 60k at least?

Didn’t they say 60k at least? 60k base salary for the first two years + profit sharing (I doubt there will be profit the first 2-5 years unless they make a killing in TV deals) + performance bonuses. This will be a flat base the first two years, then players will be able to negotiate. The four players signed on as Player Relation Associates who will also be players will make 100k base.

Some future timeline stuff that's mentioned in this press release(so I have to take it with a grain of salt) 1)Teams can start signing players in May (They need to finalize the first year teams and get those teams Heads of Operations/GM's pretty damn quick) 2)PVF has gotten commitments from "nearly 100 high-caliber American and international volleyball stars" 3)This press release says the college draft will be in November. One of the interviews I've heard since this press release said December. I'm pretty frustrated. Not with the GR team, but with the league and other owners. The other three teams feel like vaporware: No venue No promotion outside of their initial announcement. Hardly any internet presence. We don't even know if these owners have any staff in place at all and they're supposed to start signing players in a month's time!?! Ugh.

To put things in perspective, there is someone trying to resurrect the Arena Football League for the second time. They promised 16 teams by the next NFL off season with TV deals and they've made 0 announcements RE: ownership groups.

That's usually a warning sign that this ain't going to work. No news and marketing=no teams. I suppose its possible that they are still nailing down the final terms and conditions of certain key contracts or operational matters and we'll hear something from them soon. Or more likely...things have fallen apart behind-the-scenes among the parties and those teams just won't be appearing.

This is not a surprise. Did anyone watch any of the interviews with the Founders? One guy was absolutely terrible and the other guy was a little better, but was only superficially knowledgeable about volleyball. The Grand Rapids group are the only owners with any actuals sports management experience, and it really shows.

This league needs fewer mysteries, not more.

This league needs fewer mysteries, not more. What's the mystery? She's scheduled to play with AU at the University of Texas on the 12th. Trent Dilfer has already been announced as an owner. She's probably going to announce Dallas/Fort Worth (or Austin, or Houston) en route to her game.
