I thought Morgan Hentz was with AU. I wonder if she is planning to switch after the 2023 season or juggle both. It seems like players should be able to do both.

So where do these games get played? Because i think the construction of a true volleyball sports arena would be the main thing to really show the sport is being taken seriously. Building their own arena is not necessary. They need a decent arena that’s consistently available for all of the matches. Disagree but ok

Disagree but ok I dont think they're gonna have the funding for that. plenty of arenas would be just fine, its not like volleyball arenas are incredibly unique from regular ones. they couldn't do or build something like what nebraska has with all of the fan experience and how their stadium is curated around their history and their brand and their massive fan base. this league has no clue how many people are even going to come. and sadly, I could see the numbers being rather disappointing in terms of the crowd. it would not be smart to build some big arena curated to volleyball because no one else would use it so they would not be making any money renting it out and like I said, I dont think were gonna see a ton of fans at these games. people are already concerned about the funding, they would maybe never recover finically from building their own arena when they could use a nicer one for cheaper

Didn’t say this is something that needs to happen right away, just something to be considered to show the sport is being taken seriously. The best possible flooring, court dimensions, etc for playing volleyball is not a lot to ask if the league eventually finds success. If everyone is already projecting the league won’t be successful, then ok, won’t be taken seriously and the real pro ball will remain overseas.

I have a feeling DFW’s team will play at UTA’s arena where (obviously) UTA plays but also the Dallas Wings. If that’s too much sharing, I’m pretty sure there’s a basketball arena in Frisco for the Mavericks G-League team and I’m not sure if they share it with anyone at this point. Could be a decent opportunity. There’s a AA baseball team in Frisco too.

They just need to make sure they're arenas in good locations.
Like I heard complaints about Fair Life in Dallas or wherever AU had it.
Omaha should use Baxter Arena but they could also use the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, which is closer to downtown but its on the Iowa side.

Just one that was themed towards volleyball. So you want a league where all of the teams play in a single stadium. Fans would have to travel out-of-state to see the team that represents there region play their "home" games. I don't think that would work on several levels, least of which would be the cost of constructing a building that would only be in use a couple of months or of the year while asking fans to pay for travel expenses on top of ticket prices.

Not exactly, could be a few gyms that teams rotated usage of but all still geared towards volleyball. Could also serve as a rental gym fit junior clubs and their tournaments. This is not a snap of the fingers and make it happen kind of thing. I think it’s possible to coordinate with local clubs and the volleyball community to make these arenas, something of substance that promotes volleyball specifically. Rather than the league/teams being at the mercy of stadiums that may or may not be great floor quality and just wanting to make some money off the league. Sure it’s not something that has been done before for volleyball only, but I don’t really see how you can claim a part of the sport is growing, when the investment isn’t really made into its promotion. Sure it’ll be a long time coming to expect Womens volleyball to get on the same level of men’s basketball but if at least it’s something being worked towards, however gradually, I don’t see the issue.

Ok. I see your vision a little bit now. But I think we needed to walk before we can run. The fact that fans here on these boards, of all places, are a little skeptical of the viability of this league speaks volumes. The PVF needs to prove it can sell tickets and draw ad dollars before owners spend even more capitol on buildings that might not make their money back.

I see. Yes, it would be great for one of the Pro League teams to have/own their own volleyball dedicated facility, which they could then rent out and run camps, etc. but it's definitely not necessary. That type of arena/facility might make some sense financially, but it's still an expensive proposition. A general use volleyball facility versus an actual arena that could seat maybe 5,000 represents a huge cost difference and really serves two completely different audiences/users.
