Just raise the cap to 8 add/drops for everyone. It’s a long season with variable schedules and 20 dudes for 7 spots. Way way way more unpredictable than the women’s side. Men’s should have the same or more add/drops than women’s.

It's fine indeed not to have any extra add/drops, as long as we are consistent. I think that this might be another aspect to consider for next season about how to factor in the schedule or not. If points were averaged per set, the add/drops would indeed be functional to cover unexpected withdrawals, injuries or bad performances and not needed to modulate the roster to maximize the number of matches played

And don't you get unlimited drops for the first 3 weeks or something on the women's side?

The men’s side has way too much mess with schedules, guys quitting, changes in starters and what not. Teams go weeks without playing. 6 add/drops isn’t much. I had to use 2 just to correct for libero shenanigans. On the women’s side the league has changed rules about add/drops over the years. But there is a free period for a couple of weeks so people can figure out who’s injured, who ends up in a 6-2 (doesn’t happen on the men’s side really), which MB serves (again not relevant).

It should not be per set scoring. Just like in any fantasy league in all other sports, it should be based on totals. We don't give yards per carry or yards per catch in football or points per minutes played in basketball. It goes into the strategy of the league. A guy from a school going 5 constantly is more valuable than a Hawaii or UCLA guy who will win in 3. The schedules will all even out when it matters most late in the year when everyone is in conference play and playing 2 matches per week.

The football and baseball analogies are nonsensical. Those are time limited sports. Volleyball isn’t. Applying “any fantasy league in all other sports” logic to volleyball is a miss.

I look at this as very similar to fantasy baseball and basketball as we compete in categories.

Schedules don't really even out and when playoff come there are teams that play 3 games in a week and others that play none. Huge difference.
