Wasn’t playing both a big part of her recruitment? Then the coach says no? THIS. I remember it being an express wish of hers to be a dual-sport athlete. Come to Wisconsin, Lauren. Our WBB team could sure use you... The VB team certainly needs another MB, too. LOL

PLEASE, I beg. She'd fill our last big need and I'd love to have her in Maroon and Gold. She made the Maryland team much more competitive when she arrived. I go to most Maryland home matches and I just don't see her helping a Big 10 team. I think she is still out there for a reason. what

Former Arizona WBB player and VB signee Lauren Ware is in the portal. Rumors have her linked to Nebraska WBB. I have no idea if she's still interested in VB. She played a spring tournament with Arizona in 2022 and Rubio really hoped she would give VB a try again. WBB coach Adia Barnes was pretty clear that she didn't want Ware playing VB. I don't know if Ware really didn't want to or if she made the decision because Barnes controlled her scholarship. She's not in a position to be needed by a VB program like Nebraska, but I have wondered if she might walk on and see what college volleyball is like when she chooses her new school. Wherever she ends up for WBB, I am very interested in what happens on the volleyball side of things. She could come and play both for ILL. Our WBB had an amazing year. Even though we need an OH, I’d take her!

Wasn’t playing both a big part of her recruitment? Then the coach says no? Indeed it was. She said she chose Arizona because the two coaches worked together and had a plan for her so she could do both. Covid was partially at fault for her being unable to play both the first year, but after that it really seemed to me that Barnes pressured her not to play volleyball. Ware may not have needed a lot of pressure by then, but it certainly didn't help her lean towards VB. She kept saying that Ware couldn't make money as a pro if she played volleyball and she could only be great at basketball if she focused on that alone. Thing is, I don't think she was good enough for the best international WBB leagues or the WNBA. So, I am not sure it mattered.

We definitely could of used her size and athleticism. Audible sigh, oh well best of luck to her.

I hope this next portal window is entertaining things have been too calm on here I can’t think of many big names that I could see leaving at this point. But then again, I never would’ve guessed Skylar Fields leaving Texas so sometimes what seems obvious may not be the case.

I agree. the only players I could see leaving the top teams are those who's playing time is not looking favorable

I doubt there would be that type of player entering in the upcoming window.

I definitely think there could be some big names entering the portal. Players who are graduating now and decide they want to go somewhere else for grad school. Players who see spring playing time cut into because of a freshman early enrollee or new transfer.

Players who see spring playing time cut into because of a freshman early enrollee or new transfer. In talking with quite a few coaches recently. I get the sense that this portal cycle will be different as: 1. The vast majority of schools are not as worried about losing players in the portal as they have been in the past. 2. Most schools are not going to put hope in some tranformational player magiacally landing in their lap and will keep recruiting accordigly. (if it happens great) As to the why? The common theme that I kept hearing. 1. The past few transfer cycles have proven that the vast majority that enter do not find a home. (exception being the handful of top tier names) 2. Those that do find a home will be within the top 10-20% of schools and does not apply to the vast majority of programs.
