None of this mentions what most people have heard, which is that the culture hasn't been good for the past 11 years. And if you hate that buzzword, then substitute chemistry, atmosphere, spirit, etc.

I do hope Barber and Pendergast land somewhere. I am a fan of both of them despite the Sealy troubles. Bruins were one swing a way from a PAC championship last season. Sealy was Pac 12 coCOY, May POY, Fleck LOY. IMO if Luper was not out for the second half of the season she likely would have been FOY and UCLA probably would have won the PAC. If Sealy truly has been as aloof as everyone on here seems to think he was then got to give a little credit to those guys. Everything that could have gone wrong this year did for UCLA. Almost anyone would have taken Forte, McKissock and Cole. Pretty sure McKissock was ACC setter of the year at one point and was visiting San Diego when she chose UCLA, Cole was ACC libero of the year, Forte was on everyone's wish list too and visited USC and Texas I believe. Then during the season Luper was out and not at 100% all year, McKissock was out for several matches due to illness and had thumb issues all season, Dodson was concussed for a few matches, Savage was out for a few matches, Ndiaye was out for a match, McCall was out for a few matches, Alupie tore ACL so she was out for second half of the PAC (she was leading the PAC in blocks), Forte was not even on the bench for most of the season. They were down to one middle at one point. Everyone deals with injuries, but that is a lot. UCLA needed one more win to make the tournament and didn't have a full roster for most if not any of them. So as disappointed as I have been this season, I give the assistants some credit. I support the change and think it was time, but I wish those guys well for the future. Barber to LBSU? Pendergast to A&M? Actually LBSU could snag up either one of these guys IMO.

None of the morale problems I've observed and inferred from what players say as they leave, and what I've inferred from player interviews, has anything to do with the assistants, past or present. A minority of people need to stop making this about one year. From 2013 forward the program has been an emotionless roller coaster.

I understand that most of their top prospective coaches can not be contacted until after the tournament or after elimination, UCLA must move fast to prevent mass exodus that has been rumoured and potential shifts in incoming athletes...UCLA should not be a rebuilding processd Who do we think are top candidates? I don't think they can afford Fisher. KBB/Petrie not interested. I got my money on Tom Black. Just won SEC Coach of the Year at Georgia, plenty of SoCal ties. Seems like a good fit. agree with others who have said UCLA is likely not in a financial position right now to make a big hire.. in 2025 probably. So, as with UCLA soccer, UCLA will probably hire a top young assistant. In soccer's case, UCLA won a Natty in that prior top assistant's (Stanford) first year as head coach in Westwood, on Monday night beating UNC 3-2. In case you have trouble counting that high, that is UCLA's NCAA team Championship #120which underscores the expectation UCLA Volleyball fans have of being nationally relevant, which hasn't been the case since at least 2018.

Yes, I'm aware of that. I'm also aware of how difficult it is to travel there. Are you aware of how difficult it is to travel to Pullman, WA? Why do I care? I was making a silly remark regarding how difficult it is to travel to play Penn State. Are you aware of how difficult it is to travel to Manhattan, Kansas? How is that material? I was just making a joke.

So what does he do next? Be an assistant somewhere? Lol He can go be an assistant under Winzer. Learning to choose to compete might revive his passion for the game. lol

Are you aware of how difficult it is to travel to Pullman, WA? lol, the exception argument. one bad/inconvenient trip sometimes once every other year vs. vs. 14 bad/inconvenient trips, taking 7-8 of those each year (or 4 bad weekends as it were)

Good riddance Sealy. Most underachieving coach EVER (maybe besides Nagel at Duke)....With all the talent he's had it's criminal they haven't made multiple final fours, let alone MISS THE !!!!###$$$!!!IN NCAA TOURNEY!! How do you get FIVE bloody years of Mac May, and underperform so badly!?! Geezus. And on top of that, he recruits top 10 setters like every goddamn year, only to sit them on the bench and never actually develop them. It was literally a NEW setter EVERY YEAR!! How TF are you gonna achieve success when you can't develop a setter (like Stanford does) to steady a ship? Pathetic coach. And yes, he "won" a national title, only because he was GIFTED the roster that year. After his recruits started to come into the program, he SUCKED as a coach and massively underachieved. So yes, GOOD RIDDANCE! Hopefully now fans/ucla can get a coach that can actually coach and develop players and make final fours!
