Thanks Cubicle No More for setting this thread up.
Last Spring Practice, Robyn concentrated on Serve-Receive and back row play. What will Robyn and coaching staff put the emphasis on in Spring practice next year? Hoping it is on Blocking and Block touches. Also, develop the Opposite position. The Wahine need consistent production from the Opposite position to become a Top Tier team. Robyn is bringing in 2 Outside Hitters next year, so it seems like she has an idea how to build the Wahine Team to once again make the Wahine a Top Tier team.

We obviously still need on serve-receive. The receive part is average I suppose but the serve part has consistently failed to generate any pressure against top teams. (Minus when they went after Fields from USC.
Production from the opposite needs work, but we have multiple pins coming in so they’re hope.
Floor defense is nowhere top team level either. We just don’t dig as many bombs up as other teams. I think playing in the Big West hurts us in this regards.

Okay, 2023, maybe like Wisconsin 2022, not because the setters are bad, but because pin hitter depth, 6-2! Alexander may be able to play 6 rotations. Wagoner will. Maybe Hakas 2 right/1 left or vice versa with someone and maybe 6 rotations, Ham for one of the right sides. Wisconsin managed that with Smrek/Robinson/Demps this year. Westerberg/Evans/Stella as M2!

Not to mention the addition of Jackie Matias, and a 100% Kennedi Evans. These 4 players will definitely give Robyn and staff a lot more options, and flexibility, next year. What I like most though, is the battles the Wahine will have during practice scrimmages, that these 4 players will contribute to. Kind of reminds me of the scrimmage battles that the Men's side have.

Stella will be on the Outside, with Calyn playing Opposite, as I see it. With a healthy, and conditioned Evans, Hawaii will become more physical at the net. What I am waiting to see, in action, is Stella, cause already Robyn is comparing her to 2 of the Most Outstanding Outside Hitters, the Wahine ever had in, Kanani Danielson and Kim Willoughby. If she is anywhere near those 2, Hawaii has quite a gem.

We need consistent production out at Oppo and if Caylen can do it because it's her natural position, I fully believe she can. Then maybe we can start running some D sets to her too.

Hakas, will not replace Riley Wagoner, but she will definitely replace Ham in the back row. There may be on occasion when Riley Wagoner is off offensively that those 2 may switch, but at least Hakas will give Robyn that option to do so, which Robyn did not have that option to do so this year. That is what I mean, just having Hakas, Stella, Matias, and Kennedi, it will give Robyn options to go to that she did not have this year. So when Robyn says, she wants players who can play multiple positions she is talking about players like Hakas, Wagoner, Alexander, and Stella. Robyn wants options at her disposal, players she can move around.

I believe she can hit the D set. Just watching Caylen, she is starting to remind me of Teee Williams. Not quite at that level just yet. But I feel she can get there, with off season training and weight lifting. Just her built, arm swing and all, reminds me of Teee Williams.

Robyn's job right now is to keep this team intact, and moving forward. Helping each and every player improve on their weaknesses so that those weaknesses become their strengths. Set high goals for the team, that surpass just winning the BWC Title. Making sure each and every player has those goals in mind and are making strides towards those goals, as individuals and as a team.

If anything. I feel this Hawaii team needs to prepare themselves mentally. Once the other opponent gets in their head. They break down easily. Over thinking which generates sloppy plays. It all starts with our pass. Our best player can’t really do anything (Igiede) when the pass sucks. Which results in everyone struggling to stay afloat. Glad there’s new players coming in. We are competitive within the Bigwest but beyond that, it’s a different beast when it comes to playing other leagues. Mentally and physicality wise.
