Didn’t say you’re not entitled to your opinion, just saying that people shouldn’t give AF about you or anything you say. It’s not constructive, it’s just pointing out obvious negatives for the sake of pointing out obvious negatives. Now that is what I call BULLYING. You don’t make any sense at all. I hope the moderator sees this. Just reported this. I'm the moderator (surprise). babybacks has been asked to tuned it down before so babybacksets, play nice. That said, some of you have unrealistic expectations for the program (I disagree with babyback's delivery of communicating his thoughts but I don't disagree with his thoughts.) It's okay to lament the changing landscape of women's collegiate volleyball, where Hawai'i is not a top 10 program anymore but look at Long Beach State and other once-elite programs, they've fallen much further than Hawai'i. Robyn's teams are still competing, winning conference titles, and making the NCAA's. Her teams have battled. This year's team has the potential to do very well. If you're going to call it like it is, call it like it is..... there's is still only a small amount of elite programs, and a small number of new programs that are trending up. This isn't the 80, 90's and early 2000's anymore. There is more competition and more parity among programs. Expecting Hawai'i to continue to be elite today is unrealistic. Appreciate what we have and support the program. Robyn and staff are doing the best with what they have. Last year's result in the NCAA's is the only one in recent memory that was a total disappointment. Furthermore, players like Amber are setting the table for new Wahine recruits (Like Mili). Let's be excited for the future.

Last year's result in the NCAA's is the only one in recent memory that was a total disappointment. Furthermore, players like Amber is setting table for new Wahine recruits (Like Mili). Let's be excited for the future. BIK, concur. And I'll expand on it by adding the missive below, written last June: About six years ago I did a normal distribution of the unadjusted RPI scores and rankings for seasons 2014 and 2015. I dumped the files a few years ago, but I recall the meat of it: It wasn't a perfect bell curve grouping, but close. There were ~320 teams then. Teams grouped themselves within standard deviations (sigma) of relative strength. Within a sigma, team strength averaged over the course of the season is roughly equal. I named them sigma+3 (elite teams), sigma+2(super strong), sigma+1 (strong), sigma (average), sigma-1, etc. The midpoint of the distribution ranked ~RPI 168, and all of the teams were spread across seven sigma of strength. I grouped the weakest two sigma and called it an even six sigma distribution. We've had some expansion of teams since then. If I looked at it again, I'd expect the seven sigma distribution would hold and be appropriate for the current number of teams. Elite RPI teams ranked 1-4 fit within sigma+3; RPI 5-52 were the sigma+2 super strong teams; RPI 53 to mid-low 100s were sigma+1 strong teams; RPI mid-low 100s to high 100s were average sigma teams; etc. Given how the NCAA tournament selects, seeds, and determines hosts, the odds of any team not seeded in the top sixteen getting to the final four is very small to vanishing. These days, getting to the 2nd round within the regionals, puts that team amongst the top 32. By sigma, that's competing at a level well within the sigma+2 super strong teams. Getting to the 3rd round of the sweet sixteen, is competing at the head of the pack of the super strong and among the tippy top elite. So the point of all the above is that Hawai'i hasn't been an elite RPI 1-4 team for a long time. And that started long ago when the number of women teams greatly expanded, the talent pool diluted, the football money flowing to the P5 teams became unmatchable, and every tall girl with an ounce of athleticism suddenly had dozens if not hundreds of school options. Hawai'i has done well to maintain itself in the RPI 5-52 grouping for most of the post-expansion years. These days, getting to the 3rd round once in any four year cycle, and maintaining an RPI ranking of 5-52 most years, is going to be an excellent showing for mid-majors. Expecting more from Hawai'i is understandable, but grounding expectations in reality requires understanding the numbers stacked against them.

Did UH return from their trip from Brazil yet? If so, is there any videos of their friendly matches with those teams from Brazil? I cant find anything.

I would like to see Robyn, look to the Far East, like Japan, if she cannot find an elite Libero in Hawaii. That is one area Robyn can gain a foothold on ahead of the other teams.

I'm very entertained. And despite what you said. And I will it exactly what it is....mediocre, because right now they are. Like I said, I'm not spreading lies, or anything untrue, because Hawaii hasn't been ranked in a while, and been having a hard time getting past the first and seconds of the NCAA. Truth. Not mad about it. ..

It figures that the stuck in the 90’s “telling it like it is fans” have such elite expectations of the program but zero idea or consideration of the things that have been OUT of RAM’s control the past two seasons. You are probably the same posters that thought Tyler and Long Beach were gonna whoop her team last fall. And before you use Charlie’s program against her , he has maybe 3-4 teams with bigger budgets he has to out-recruit. While RAM has well over 50. Even USC has struggled to get out of the second round the past two seasons.

Their last day is June 8th, but they are done with their friendly matches. Only 1 was stream on youtube (I think) here: the other match was streamed live on Instagram the missouri state volleyball west plains account because Paty Figueiredo went with the team (the head coach)

What's with the "AF" for? Back when Robyn and Scott were Dave’s assistant coaches, Scott Wong recruited the mainland and international players and Robyn would scout and recruit here locally. At least that is what another poster mentioned years ago. As a newer head coach trying to build recruiting networks nationally and internationally, I would imagine a lot of misses and maybe a few hits early on. Maybe Coach Milan can lend a hand in snagging some decent Serbian players.

Even USC has struggled to get out of the second round the past two seasons. USC has not been out of the 2nd round since Mick. Hawaii has made it more recently to the Regionals (sweet 16) than USC has.

I’m excited for the season and seeing this team compete as I am every season.

If we are mediocre....what does that make USC with all that Power 5 money? No offense. Exactly this! But it doesn’t stop USC from being an incredible school to attend and has done enough to attract one of the top outside hitters and setters to the program. Talent is just spread out these days, some programs can concentrate talent all towards themselves with NIL and the trend of ring chaser athletes but who is to say that is going to last?
