Per the comments section in Cindy Luis' blog, Anna Kiraly is retiring. That would account for the extra scholarship they have. I hope she gets to keep a scholarship and that RAM will have an extra scholarship to give out. Good luck to Anna and her studies. Yes, praying for only blessings for Anna!

It would also be nice to see her stay in Hawaii and get her degree at UH. She seems to have impacted those that know her in a very positive way.

She can still be part of the team. She is just not on the active roster. She can still get her education paid for by being a student assistant or DOO or some other role for the team. It will keep her involved in the game and can help in other ways.
Good Luck Anna and Mahalo for being a Wahine.

Sad to see her career not come to fruition but glad to see how much she loved the program and being in Hawaii. Best of luck to her in the future and well wishes as she deals with her illness. On the other side of that, now officially one scholarship available. We will see what direction the staff wants to take in that regard. Like I’ve said before, not ideal to start 2 freshman middles. Did Amber/Tiff both start as freshman at some point during the 2019 season?

I think the level of competition helps to some degree. The rest comes from the level of talent Hawaii have (or don't have). When Hawaii fielded a talented team, they could compete. In 2015, Hawaii defeated 2 time defending champs in Penn State, on paper and based on competition, Penn State should've defeated the Wahine.

It just doesn't count against the scholarship limit.

I could see Maddie or Mili starting right away

My mb wishlist is someone in the mold of Veronica Lima who could play all 6 rotations One more wishlist mb, someone in the mold of Heather Bown would be nice. 😅 As for a libero I'm not that old so I don't remember the ones from back when, but Melissa Villaroman, Ali Longo or even someone like Aneli Cubi-Otineru. 🤔 I'm born again for a Heather Bown. She was such a leader and craftsman on the slide and pressing to the block. yes mammmmah! Also Kaufman was a showman, Just beauty, pure and smooth. High jumping may have had a squinch of a part. BTW Amber K hitting her head was not the "T". FYI Why Brittinay, Why?

I think Williams started, then lost her starting position to Westerberg, but towards the end of the season earned it back.

Guess who was on Dave Shoji's coaching staff during that season, Robyn Ah Mow.

This could be a very quiet off season for Robyn and the Wahine, even with 1 scholarship to give out. Robyn will be very selective in going after a player in the transfer portal. The returning players have great chemistry, and work ethic. Something Robyn would not want to disrupt. The Coaching Staff have 2 years to bring in an experienced transfer Middle, they do not have to do it this off season. If the coaching staff cannot find that transfer player who would fit right into the team chemistry they have created, would not be surprised if the scholarship goes to a player like Ham.
