We could possibly see De Goede and Alexander split time at Opposite. The same could be said for M2, with Westerberg and Bamis. Thinking also, Evans will get a lot of playing time in place of Igiede. Bamis and Evans do need a lot of floor time. Igiede not so much. We could also see Matias playing a lot more then Lang. This scrimmage is more about players getting experience, Setters getting use to the Hitters, which players can play where, etc. Robyn would like to win, but it is not the most important thing, in this scrimmage.

I think the lineup against Minnesota will probably be: S: Lang OH1: Alexander (DS: Ikenaga/Morioka/Edmonds) OH2: Ham OPP: De Goede (DS: Ikenaga/Morioka/Edmonds) MB1: Igiede MB2: Westerberg/Bamis/Evans L: Ikenaga/Morioka/Edmonds I think the most interesting position up for grabs would probably be the second middle position and maybe the opposite position as well. Cowell and Wagoner will both be on the beach team, so they will most likely not participate in the scrimmages. I do think that they may put Westerberg at opposite if Bamis or Evans is in that second middle spot. I feel that all of the L/DS on our roster will get playing time in the scrimmage as well (unless they really want to test Alexander's 6-rotation play) I agree with the OH 1 & 2 position, Ham can play all 6 rotations. Did Tiff play in the spring match last year? I kind of want to see Bamis at MB2 just to see where she is at, but yeah I have no idea for OPP lol Tiff did not play in the spring match last year. I believe it was due to illness that she couldn't play? It was the reason why Igiede was in the front row for 6 rotations lol

With another MB in the mix, I’ll be interested to see if we start to see Westerberg move back to the right. She was looking good over there toward the end of 2021.

It will be interesting to see who Robyn puts at Opposite and the other Outside Hitter position. Not to mention who will be the 2nd Middle. Until Hakas and Adeyemi arrive on campus those 2 positions will be up in the air. Hopefully, Robyn does not move Tiffany Westerberg again, and just leave her at Middle. Cause it will not do Tiffany any good if she had to move to another position again. If not they’ll prob just be B side depth unless Westerberg can win out the M2 spot.

Most are still remembering how Tiff started off the season on the pin, not how she ended. However I think we need a player who can put up regular double digit kills on the right side and that’s what remains to be seen from Westerberg.

No….I don’t think they will move Tiff back out. It would do her a disservice to move again and also take away experience from the second middle. My guess is it’s going to be either Annika or Kendra at OPP. Some may forget that Kendra was recruited out of HS as a OPP. She also filled in some for Braelyn this past season.
I think Caylen will get a long look at LS in the spring. If passing is still an issue throughout spring, then maybe Caylen may move to OPP when Tali comes in during fall camp. For now, I think Caylen is a LS hitter. Will probably hit some on the right in the exhibition to give her a look see there.
My lineup would be… OH…Wagoner and Alexander MB….Igiede and Westerberg OPP…DeGoede S…Lang L….Ikenaga
B team OH…Cowell and Ham MB…Evans and Bamis OPP….Alexander S….Matias L… Edmonds
Mandi is going to have to prove herself before beating out the two veterans.

I guess we’ll see. I don’t think it will do Tiff a disservice. She’s team first and it looks like the pin was always what she was penciled in for her if not for the certain circumstances that kept that from being a possibility last season. I’m sure the staff leave it up to her to decide where she wants to compete in her last year. I also think when/if we land an impact Rightside that’ll influence her decision. And technically now we have 2 more experienced middles besides Tiff that can make a push for that M2 spot. So it’s a more possible option. I just think they wouldn’t have been putting so much attention on needing people being willing to play multiple positions if the pin wasn’t what the staff’s first choice for Tiff was before realizing Evans and Kiraly would not be available.

I have not checked in for a while. RIP Jim Leahey, first! He played a big role in Hawai'i volleyball broadcasts becoming the platinum standard, and Kanoa is filling those big shoes so well! Also, it looks like the Wahine are having a big net influx of talent, which makes a 6-2, due to hitting depth and two good setters on the roster, a possibility. The players and RAM and company will figure it out through spring and fall practice!

Yea it was confusing me because there were so many on here talking about sand teams coming to play Hawaii’s indoor team during a sand tournament weekend? Lol I was like umm that would be exactly like trying to play indoor volleyball games as a basketball player currently in season. If it’s anything like HS I’m sure the NCAA rules just scale up and have rules against this for the sake of the athlete not being abused by not having an option to opt out of participating in both sports they are involved in. I think when both teams are in off season, rules might be different. But in season I can’t imagine it being allowed.

For the indoor athletes, indoor takes precedence so Robyn wants them for the spring, they have them. Beach has to take a break.
In the past, some athletes have played the indoor spring match and the beach tournament on the same day.

Whoever is out there will probably get blasted.
