I’m not positive but I’m pretty sure this might be an NCAA violation… Not sure. I have seen players who have used up their eligibility filling in during spring matches in the past, if memory serves. Well even then that’s just being a practice player without being on any other ncaa team. Basically like picking up a Mens club player to help with numbers.

Yea I’m thinking the staff has at least one game/set giving Westerberg, Ham, and De Goede their last showing of being able to be impact pin hitters. If not they’ll prob just be B side depth unless Westerberg can win out the M2 spot. I don't think Minnesota would be a fair test for these women at Opposite. Whoever is out there will probably get blasted. Well if neither of them can be blocking and offensive threats on the right and contain 2 incredible outside hitters, then all the more reason to go after one in the portal. Tiff has the most on court collegiate Opposite experience out of the 3. I think Ham and De Goede have a long way to go as far as mechanics to be consistently good offensively. If the plan is for Alexander to move there, this would probably also be the best time to see her over there, against top competition. I just have no idea if we’ll get the same offensive output there as when she was on the left. And if she’s not on the left during the scrimmage than idk who else is left.

Yes, I didn't think about experimenting with Caylen at Opp before the incoming OHs get here next fall. She showed no fear in the big pre-conference games last year, so it would be interesting to see how she responds against Minnesota. With the other Opps we kind of know where they will be this spring against the big bully teams we'd meet in the NCAAs. Btw - my OP was hastily typed, and I didn't mean "blasted" to sound so mean. I just meant that it's sometimes hard to judge a good player when they are up against an elite-level talent.

My issue with Caylen is her passing. If she can pass, she can definitely stay on the left. If she can’t, then you will be taking away our best option….Amber Igiede. If we start shanking serves left and right, we won’t be able to get Amber involved. We also do not yer have a bailout hitting so passing should be priority #1.
Tali Hakas seems to be a good passer so she and Caylen will counted on to put up good passes.

Her passing wasn’t perfect but she was serviceable but also didn’t have to take up that much Court. However, I feel like her passing and defense were ahead of her blocking. That’s prob my biggest worry outside of being unsure how offensive she’ll be on the right. Her blocking will need to take BIG leaps for her to be a dependable rightside.

Howzit!!! Brand new to forum but been a die hard Wahine fan since hanabata dayz!!!! These past years been real rough man!!! Totally....not accustomed to seeing the Wahine booted in 1st, 2nd, 3rd rounds in the Tourney!! It hurts man!!!!!! Totally not blaming coach RAM.... (if you watch during timeouts, when the Wahine are getting handed.. she looks like she wants to pull all her hair out , maybe some of the girls ones too lol) But there’s where I think there’s the problem! HEART!!!!! This former All-American, former US Olympian looks like she wants to jump on the court for pancake every ball and stuff every pin Till who ever looks absolutely demoralized! Down 10... or letting the opponent make 7-12 point runs against a Wahine team was absolutely unheard of back in the day! The Heart’s most of our teams had growing up was unmatched!!! Not throwing shade on our current players but... there’s definitely tenacity And passion missing!!! You ever seen the focus and anger on Sav kahakai, cubi-otineru, Tita Ahuna,’s faces when we desperately need a point? Or the glare and rock hard foundation ready to erupt on anything by the net of McGill, Ljunqvist, Maglio, Chase when we cannot allow them to score! And the absolute BOOM you heard from Willouhby, Lovelace, Kee and Teee for Aloha point? Ah Mow was the Same!!! If she has to beg it out of them then..it’s just not there!! Aside of Igiede... maybe Wags at times...no emotions!!! I wanna see pure pissed off and mouths wording LETS GOOO!!!!!! When just a couple points are sacrificed like the Wahine Legends before them!! Talent and highly touted is definitely important but effort and total will is the real difference! But , I’ve been watching tape on some of the recruits ,,, RAM and the staff I think are doing a heck of a job in that aspect... Hakas, Adeyemi, Sylvester..... Heart is coming!! Aloha E Kipa Mai!

Just because a player has a more stoic facade doesn't mean she doesn't have heart. LOL. One doesn't have to glare or be angry to have heart. The players can glare or be angry all they want, but if they can't score, it won't matter.
It's funny that Wags was mentioned as one of just two current Wahine who have emotions. Of all the players, she's the one who is less transparent with her emotions. What I see in her is focus. I see it in Lang, Ham, Alexander, etc. Just because someone like Ikenaga is all smiley-smiley doesn't mean she's not focused or doesn't have emotions.

(Really hoping Wucherer and Landfair are healthy for the rest of their careers). Oh, and yes, I am totally hoping the Wahine get more consistent production from the right side in 2023, whatever they do there, but, please, remember this. The Badgers got a lot better over the course of the 2022 season. In the first weekend of league play, they got shredded by that Gopher duo, with Robinson and Smrek on the the right side, in a Gopher sweep in Minneapolis. The Badgers didn't lose again in league play. I have not followed the 94 pages of this thread too closely, but RAM is not dumb. If she has a scholarship available for 2023, I am sure she has contacted Robinson and Pertofsky, responding to another post here about the transfer portal (oops, just saw Robinson to Duke).

I know this is a open forum, I don’t expect everyone to agree with me! Is just my opinion on the girls now compared to the past!!! I don’t doubt the talent and the commitment they have to compete on this level or to be on this team! As I said.. I’m a die-hard Wahine Fan! And I really Love our current Team. Yes I know Ikenaga is always smiley -smiley,, SMH , who would see that as a fault? You don’t have to come at me like that brah! And No ... Ham, Edmonds , Westerberg, Alexander, Lang etc... should not be Expected to glare or show anger just for us to know they are committed! That’s just ridiculous !!! What I’m trying to say is ... I miss seeing more emotion from our girls like we had before!! This game is so much about momentum swings and emotions(heart) Fans play a pretty big part!, Perfect example is Wags.. yes! Wags for the most part never really shows emotions .. focused is a good expression! No doubt one of our quiet leaders!!! But there was a few times in the past few years her demeanor was changed, there was one occasion I think a opponent was egging her on or said something disrespectful! And Riley weeeeeeent off!! She was so pissed, she was destroying Almost every ball with Exclamation ! How a look (glare, Angry, kill-face) Changes things!!! our team was rallying!!! I think they were all so shocked at how pissed she was that it fired everybody up!! And the crowd was jacked!!! Imagine seeing a usually seamless teammate Suddenly so emotional and having a look on them of wanting something so bad..it fires you up!!! it’s infectious!!!! We had many of these girls in the past!! Laugh at me and judge all you want .. but I truly Believe , the teams that had the most girls like this,, went the deepest in the tourney!! When you saw The Toni Nish ita ’s, Ali Longo’s, EMiLy Maglio’s, Krystal Attwoods’s, Chastity NoBriga’s , Ah Mows Suddenly All fired up... it ignited everyone!! All the Nik Taylor’s, Jamie Houston’s, Manu-Olevao , T Williams, K Williams ,Heather Bown’s all would start blazing!!! And then the Wahine faithful would get so Lit and the team would feed off that too!!!! I remember seeing Maglio so emotional once... I had chicken-skin And I was yelling and jumping so hard on my bed ... I hit the ceiling fan and almost killed myself!! So no need to be a jerk in your reply to my novel ,,I will accept whatever you guys think of me !! I just wish I could see a little more emotion and fight when we are down is all I’m saying! In my experience, players in control of their emotions are better players, teammates, and likely better people. Great performance doesn't require emotive displays. Those that constantly need it are exhausting to be around, and can suck the focus away from the game and constantly to themselves. The exceptions are when being emotive in support of a teammate, when they do well or need picking up. Or occasionally the player that is emotive in firing up a crowd, because the team may benefit. Even here though too much too often is a call for self-centered attention. As in all things in sports, good timing and balance is the goal. Neither too little, nor too much, and timing is everything.

I like g0bows passion, but generally agree with this. The bottom line I think, is players should be who they are and not try to be something they are not because some fans like to see things a certain way. If they are focused, quiet, resolved, that's fine. If they wear their emotion on their sleeve and are more verbal and expressive, that's fine. I think fans are too quick to draw judgements based on what they perceive. When they try to "read" a player that way my guess is they are likely wrong in their conclusions. We've seen that here unfortunately.
