biggest key for texas will be getting anchcnate off the net. she runs a great offense when she can do what want, does really well putting her hitters in favorable positions. had her pin hitters 1 on 1 against GT often
transition game will be huge for Marquette. if they can dig those big texas hitters and attack them in transition they could make this really interesting. we know texas has the defense this year to play well in transition so Marquette will have to try to match that the best they can. texas is beatable but the margins for error against them is incredibly small, Marquette will need some help from the other side to win sets (missed serves, hitting errors, poor passing)

Doing those stats made me realise that Molly is kind of a third middle out there playing on the right pin. She’s got similar blocking, kps, and hitting% as all the middles. Guess we shouldn’t be surprised given her natural position

Guess we shouldn’t be surprised given her natural position well I mean that's how Texas uses her we basically only set her when there's perfect passes and they can use the faster, flatter set to let Molly use her vision/placement and beat the block/defense

Especially tournament play against GA

The Molly / SKT erasure. Tsk tsk tsk who else last name is Philips? skt barely saw the court last year so I didn't count her as much but thats fair ig SKT came in on the 2nd set against Nebraska with Texas down 18-11 and played in the 3rd set, then Gabriel took over again in the 4th. She ended up with 13 assists for the match. Over the course of the season she played in 58 sets, after enrolling in school a couple of weeks late and joining the team with the season already in progress. While it's true she didn't play as much as a player featured regularly in the rotation, she certainly played enough in the Elite Eight to have a taste of not making it further with the team. Can't say I'm disagreeing with you completely, but wanted to put some numbers and perspective on the line, "barely saw the court last year...."

I do feel that Texas has been super vulnerable in this round in recent seasons. I wouldn’t be surprised if Texas gets challenged but I don’t think Marquette has enough to pull the upset here but it definitely won’t be easy for the Longhorns

Here's a really nice video showing the great sendoff Marquette students, the band, and different staff members did for the Marquette players as they travel to Austin. I've heard Coach Theis say these remarks before. It's pretty elementary. First one to 25, so while Marquette isn't going to shut Texas down, they don't have to. They just have to do a little bit better in terms of kills/blocks/errors/aces so on and so than Texas. Just enough to win by 2. The video is only 1:20 long. www.cbs58.com/news/marquette-volleyball-leaves-for-texas

I think Texas fan attendance will be heavy for this game, even though it is at 1:30-ish. I had 3 spare tickets which were snatched up by a friend of mine at work for her and her two daughters. She and one of her daughters are taking the day off from work to attend (like me). Then I had others asking me to help find them spare tickets. One was my daughter's HS vball coach who is taking the day off just to watch the game at home. The tickets I almost scored for her, but couldn't are being used by the original owners who rarely make home games anymore because she's elderly and doesn't like the drive into town (she's an OG who thinks traffic in Austin is a disaster). She's attending with her friend, who essentially now drives her to all Longhorn games.
It will be heavily burnt orange. Now if we could just teach everyone to cheer loudly on our serves.
