Transfers are part of the deal now. But it's still sad to see Haydn & Caroline enter the portal. They looked pretty good in Red. Hayden I get, unfortunately. She wasn’t ever gonna see the floor. Very bummed about Vicious. She would’ve been the only non string bean pin hitter on the roster next season. A little training on the left side and she could’ve been an OH in the mold of Londot/Mruzik/Terry. Not that I’m rooting against Lindz or anything. No reason to believe she won’t be back to form next season. Just could’ve been a nice complementary OH to Harp. my girl krause is no string bean take it back lmao

Don’t respond to the trolls. For some reason Nebraska lives rent free in their mind while other Texas fans are enjoying their national championship Yeah, you're right, of course. I usually have more restraint, but just let that POS get to me. Still haven't ventured into the match thread, but will probably wade through it tomorrow--travelling all day today. And for now, an immense THANK YOU to the 2023 Huskers--you gave this old fan an immeasurable amount of joy. I couldn't be more proud or have more respect. You may not have won the championship, but you won our hearts. ❤️

Caroline leaving. JB asked JC about redshirting at the beginning of the season. JC said he had no plans and thought it was not productive to redshirt citing the transfer portal. Then Caroline redshirts. I assumed that she wanted that, but now it appears she didn't. Seems like there was a major communication issue.

There was an article somewhere that said she didn’t know she was redshirting until after the stadium match. And Jaylen decided that night she should redshirt because she was going to double major. I would have been so absolutely devastated to go into that day thinking I’d get to be out there and not even getting a chance for a couple points.

I would have been so absolutely devastated to go into that day thinking I’d get to be out there and not even getting a chance for a couple points. Caroline Jurevicius, daughter of former NFL receiver, ‘playing the long game’ with Nebraska volleyballNebraska played a volleyball match against Omaha on Aug. 30 at Memorial Stadium. The crowd of 92,003 set a global attendance record for a women’s sporting event. When she ran out of the tunnel from the football locker room and took the court, Caroline expected to play in the landmark event. She never got called off the bench. “It wasn’t the greatest feeling in the world,” Caroline said. Among five true freshmen from a No. 1-ranked recruiting class for the Huskers, who enter regional play of the NCAA Tournament at home Thursday against Georgia Tech, Caroline is the only player on the roster who’s redshirting. Her first fall in Lincoln involved difficult moments. A top-20 prospect nationally like the other freshmen, Caroline expected to compete right away. But another newcomer, Florida transfer Merritt Beason, plays the same position, opposite hitter, as Caroline. And Beason, a captain, emerged this year as one of the top players nationally. Not only did the other freshmen play, they starred from the start of this season. Harper Murray, Bergen Reilly and Andi Jackson earned All-Big Ten honors last week. Caroline cheers their achievements. “I’ve never heard her say anything about jealousy,” Meagan Jurevicius said. But at the time, in that football stadium, Caroline felt humbled and alone.
Coach John Cook said he planned to play her. When he moved to insert Caroline late in the match, assistant coach Jaylen Reyes intervened. Caroline had recently told the coaches she switched to a double major in advertising-public relations and journalism, with a minor in psychology. She would require five years to graduate. The Huskers could preserve a year of her eligibility, Reyes said to Cook. She could produce more as a fifth-year senior than in this season. The problem was, Caroline didn’t know of their reasoning until she got called into the office to talk to Cook a day later. And she still wasn’t sure she liked it.

If true, a HUGE communication problem.

it's terrible honestly. what a fumble on their part The only fumble was not making the decision before the match and then communicating it. In the grand scheme of things, Jaylen did her a huge favor by saving her eligibility since she wasn't going to be used this year (barring injury). Missing the Volleyball Day match isn't why she's leaving, btw. It's simply due to the difficulty of getting into the lineup right now and CJ wanting to play. Had Beason been a senior, CJ wouldn't be in the portal right now.

Very poorly. Thankfully for her, she wasn't inserted in that outdoor game. She now has four full years. Makes you wonder if her decision to leave was already made up once Beason transferred in, or if the poor communication pushed her into that direction.

From what I understand, it's something that slowly developed and only became a serious consideration lately. The overriding factor seems to be the lack of clear path to playing time. I cannot fault her for that. She's good enough to be a big time contributor at a lot of great programs.

I know it was to further Ava’s opportunities but I’m sure it was also for Caroline.
