I would doubt that kilkelly was on scholarship but maybe. I wonder if elise mcghee could do a katie schau and convert from setter to ds

Well, I don't know who exactly is recruiting right now for Minnesota. I am hoping Cook has someone who is really good at it in mind to be an assisstant here at Minnesota. We need a very good PASSING Libero and 2 more DS who can be digging machines. I say 2 for the latter because Gray didn't play under Hugh. Now that could change for Cook, but right now we don't know. If we get this Passing Libero, then I want to see what more Shaff can do in system. Losing 3 servers too. Yikes!! How about another Grad Transfer MB? No doubt Booth is a starter, but Davis still needed some more work. I think there are 3 scholarships available - CC, Wenaas and Kilkelly. Didn’t Gray play libero one match this season and kill it?

To me the U is pretty well set at MB with Booth, Davis, and Minatee. Would be nice to have a 4th (non-scholarship) for emergency purposes.

She has appeared in 3 matches in two years. A handful of points in 3 different sets. She hasn’t been given an opportunity to show she can kill it. Against Illinois when she was an emergency libero sub late in set 1 after CC took a ball to the face, Kilkelly got the jersey in set 2 and all three pins played six rotations until CC was cleared to DS for Wucherer. Then CC back to libero in set 3.

Syd’s a stud, and she’ll shine in time for the Gophers, but I’m going hard for Beason and a top libero if I’m KCook. Simply too good of an opposite to pass up if you have the chance at landing her. Plus Shaffmaster has tons of experience throwing up that D ball with Samedy that would make the transition seemless with Beason. That's interesting, I didn't think of Beason having a spot at MN but now with Jenna leaving it could be a good landing spot for her. Dont know if MN is on her radar.

Right, Syd will be great but agree with u that Beason would be too good to pass up. I heard that Syd can also play OH too so that helps.

I think Wenaas was unhappy after her first year. I remember someone saying that she did not think she was given an opportunity to live up to her potential. I wish she were staying, but wish her well.

I am wondering if Wenaas will go to Kentucky and take over Rollins position. Just a thought.
Not many players come around like Wenasota. We could be missing her more than we want to admit, if we cannot get the recruiting in place sooner than later.
We absolutely have no back court right now. And, unfortunately, it was several years in the making with Covid and Barnes transferring. For whatever reason, we couldn't land a CC replacement in these past years.

The transfer portal confuses me a bit. How do we know for sure Wenaas is in the portal? Is there a website one can look at or where do we find this info?

Compliance, coaches, program admins have access to the actual portal in itself. Once compliance from old school submits the name of the player who wants to enter the portal and ncaa verification happens and the athlete shows up in the portal for other schools to see. The common fan can’t see the actual portal itself but it’s typically reflected between 24-48 hours soon after on various sites/social media.

Wenaas to Kentucky I could live with, it's a different culture but built on the same emphasis on team effort and building a positive culture. She could really shine there, especially the way Grome is setting. It's such a shame because she is a franchise player--maybe (new) Cook will see the value in having arguably the smartest active collegiate OH back on the left pin?

Not to pile onto an already tough day for Gopher fans, but it appears that the Houk's are leaving as well. Wishing the three of them well wherever they end up.

I could see one of them getting a head coaching position. There are several good ones open. I hope KCook hires an exceptional back court coach. I would love to have a great defensive team with great passing.
