Really hoping for a good run by MN in the tourney to quiet all of the “Minnie shouldn’t be in” posters. First up: Utah State Looking at their schedule, not seeing how their RPI was so high. Biggest win probably against UNI unless I’m missing something. On the one hand is the "Minnesota shouldn't be in" posters. On the other is the "Minnesota is the most dangerous unseeded team." You'll never actually quiet the shouldn't be in crowd. But I don't see Minnesota receiving the brunt of it, anyway. SFA seems to be bullseye in the pitchfork and torches dartboard. And of the power conference schools, Texas A&M's resume is worse than Minnesota's. Although that's damning with faint praise. My main thing is I'd like to see more subregional hosts upset. I think Minnesota has a terrific shot at providing one. I'm curious to know why you think this. The first time Minnesota played Creighton in September, it was at Minnesota's home court and Creighton was without Norah Sis. This time it will be at Creighton and Sis is healthy. I think Creighton wins this one.

MN also has switched up their SR pattern and their record has much improved since. I don’t know that MN will win, but I think they will push them pretty hard.

Plus at Creighton instead of at Minnesota will make a difference. The reason Gopher fans are optimistic for this weekend is the Gophers have been getting markedly better. Against Creighton, Wucherer hit negative, Hanson hit negative in the back row for Grote. Landfair was just above zero. Serve receive was a mess. It is a different Gopher team now. Zeynep, the DS from Turkey, has noticeably solidified the defense. Shaffmaster looks the healthiest she has been all year and the hitting has been improving. Personally, I expect a mild upset for the Gophers over Utah State and then a slugfest with Creighton. There will be no sweeps in that match if it occurs.

Question. Do we think the players would be posting about dinky town athletes now if they planned on transferring? Pretty late in the season for that… I guess idk though.

Everyone’s thinking players will transfer because they’re having an off year with a new coach but I don’t think we’ll see any go either. They all seem pretty happy where they’re at…

Realistically over the past 15 years only one team with an RPI of 40 or higher has reached the Elite 8, Iowa State in 2008. Another six have made the Sweet Sixteen, the last being San Diego who upset USC to reach the Illinois regional in 2018. One match at a time though.

I know I made quite the statement lol, but I also wonder if there's ever been a team with as much individual talent as Minnesota ranked outside the top 40 rpi. Minnesota has lost to some 'bad' teams - but aside from wisconsin they seem to play all the top teams pretty closely. their matches against Nebraska, stanford, and texas were all pretty competitive imo. all of those teams had to play pretty well in order to pull out the win

Although, blowing an 8 point lead to Illinois was pretty disheartening. IMO Indiana was the turning point of the season… just happened REALLY late lol

I honestly thought Shaff would considerer taking her 5th year somewhere else. Just for fun….maybe play with her sister or something. However I think they would have celebrated her on senior night if that was the case. I could be way off, but I think these girls enjoy each other and like Minnesota. I am still hoping they out together a nice playoff run.
