These teams probably know each other's strengths and weaknesses KBB certainly does
MN has been on a very good trajectory recently
The outcome, however, will come down to execution and the ability of the opponent to deny the other their ability to execute
There is both a quantitative and qualitative difference between the B1G and the Big East
RPI| Team RPI 11 Creighton 1 Nebraska 23 Marquette 6 Wisconsin 47 Saint John's 9 Purdue 92 Xavier 15 Penn State 95 DePaul 31 Minnesota 103 Villanova 71 Indiana 160 Butler 74 Northwestern 173 Seton Hall 86 Ohio State 181 Georgetown 87 Michigan State 227 Connecticut 93 Illinois 272 Providence 107 Maryland
The B1G may not be as strong this year in producing tourney worthy teams but there's no question that the conference season is a crucible that, from extended pounding, can forge a more battle tested squad.
I know who both Louisville & Pitt will be rooting for.

I watched part of the Creighton/Colgate match last night. I didn't think Creighton played particularly well the first two sets but then had a solid third set. The Gophers will have to play better than last night to win on Creighton's home court.
I'm not sure if the sets were off last night or what, but Wurcherer or Landfair are going to need to carry the load a little more. Utah St's defense was scrappy and picked up a lot of stuff, expecting the same tonight.
A key for tonight will be who can serve the toughest and get them out of system.

Shaffmaster played a great all around game last night, but her set placement was all over the place.

Serve tough, keep them out of system and Wait off the net, put up a strong block and control the net! I was surprised how tough Colgate served and was able to get them out of system as much as they did.

Yeah idk what this is all about. Landfair struggled more than Wucherer. I cringe when I see a 3 pass and a set to the outside where the blockers are camping out. Serve and pass. MNs problems all season. My point is (per my observation which can be argued) it appears that Hanson and Grote adjust to their sets better than Landfair and Wucherer. It is no secret by now that Shaff is an inconsistent setter. Do fans really feel we can win with a performance like the third set against Utah State or do we have a better chance with a performance vs Indiana? Murr and Grote are the two consistent players holding this team together most of the time. I'm sure we can all agree it would be so exciting to see it all come together today.

Hanson is very high error as well. Shaffmaster needs to work on set distribution. Yes, Landfair and Wucherer need to find ways around a block, but when 80% of the sets are out to the pin, it’s very difficult. Hanson is not the answer.

I'm watching ESPN+'s The Fifth Set, the tournament wrap-around show that jumps from match to match. can we talk about them calling it "The Fifth Set" like football's The Fifth Quarter except.... volleyball has a 5th set?? Been calling it the 6th Set in protest

Agree, if anything Hanson could be a change of pace for a rotation. It is concerning that Landfair and Wucherer hit .077 and .111 yesterday and in the first Creighton match hit .054 and -.026. They will need a lot more production from their OHs to win today.

Been calling it the 6th Set in protest I'd argue they should call it The Fourth Quarter instead like, supposed to be highlighting the most intense action ongoing right? Is that not in the 4th quarter or the 5th set lol

In limited hitting role time, Julia abused Indiana's block pretty effectively if I remember correctly. When they have her exclusively swinging out of the back row she was pretty hot and cold.

Been calling it the 6th Set in protest I think it is more like the red zone, which is the very last bit before scoring, theoretically.
