I wasn’t expecting to beat Creighton, but to see all the pins struggling that much was brutal. Could we see a MN team without both Wucherer and Landfair next year? Surely one will be gone.

Minnesota is quite the paradoxical team. A real head scratcher.

I'm watching ESPN+'s The Fifth Set, the tournament wrap-around show that jumps from match to match. can we talk about them calling it "The Fifth Set" like football's The Fifth Quarter except.... volleyball has a 5th set?? Been calling it the 6th Set in protest They were going to call it "Off the Net," but then an ESPN bigwig saw Volleytalk.

I'm proud of the Gophers for fighting through and making the tournament.
At the same time, I'm not sure of what to make of the team. I mean, individually these young women are great athletes and volleyball players with accolades. But something is off with the chemistry and the team seemingly had no synergy.
Regardless, I am excited for 2024 since all the returners come in with another year under their belt and the great recruits. I pray that all the nagging injuries heal up and that the girls rest up.
Thank you to Murr for coming to Minnesota to be a Gopher! Is Shaff returning or is that unknown still?

Minnesota did as well as I had hoped; they made it competitive. This was not going to be the year for them. Hope next year they are able to take to to the next level. Go Gophers.

Minnesota is quite the paradoxical team. A real head scratcher. When your power hitters hit 5 roll/tip shots to 1 real swing, well, that’s always a problem. Those should be occasional shots, not nearly every swing. I see a lot of that in the tournament but no one as much as MN. They didn’t play nearly as well tonight as last night. Inconsistent sets hurt the hitters, though Shaff does a lot of other things really well. Murr was a treat to have with us and watch. I think this team has to change a lot to be competitive in next year’s BIG conference. Right now this group won’t be even with losing only two seniors. Disappointing season all around. First time I’ve felt like that at the end of a season in a long time.

THIS And the off tempo executions were merely free balls for the most part, not leading to an OOS response Part of this has to do with the predictability of the offense. Minnesota doesn't have the variety of plays the other teams have. Remember when Samedy would hit out of the middle? Also, how about an OH, like Wucherer hitting a gap set. Hoping KCook gets more creative. I think the players have more fun, also, when they have something new to execute.

These are top players at their respective positions in the country, and they failed to put it all together for the entire season. Speculating, but I don’t think Cook trusts Shaffmaster’s set location. Which I don’t blame him there.

When Nebraska played them, Sis was out, and they still took a set. With Sis playing they are a great team. Very good coach as well. Don’t be too hard on your team.

I think this has been an issue all season long and didn’t do them any favors last night.
