Welp, a pretty disappointing end to the season after a great SEC run. It's hard to beat a team 3x in one season, but the cats just didn't play well today. I love skinner as a coach, but outside of the title run it feels like his teams have come up short in the tourney quite a few times.
We should have another good team next season, but I really wish Skinner would start taking advantage of the portal like the elite teams due each offseason. Recruiting and developing just isn't enough in the new portal era imo.

It definitely has been a little frustrating falling short a few too many times in the postseason against teams with less talent. Still love how great of a program Skinner has turned Kentucky into, however.
With that being said, I really think he needs to add some size and athleticism to his rosters going forward. Lamb played better late in the season, but going from Madi Skinner to Rollins, Lamb, and Wilson is just too large of a drop off. And our blocking just hasn't been great 90% of the time it seems.
Really hoping we have a good offseason and add some elite talent from the portal. We have some good pieces coming back and two solid freshmen coming in, but if you don't take advantage of stud upperclassmen in the portal I feel like it's an uphill climb trying to compete with Nebraska, Wisc, Tex, and now even Louisville.

If Goetzinger doesn't come back they'll need to add MB depth for sure with only 2 on the roster. I'm not sure if Rutherford will come back. The 5th year situation takes into account so many factors. Would like to see them add experienced hitter in the portal depending on what those two do.
Huge S/O to Tealer on a great career. Just a stud and great person. Going to miss watching her!

With Rutherford leaving.. what do we expect to see get from the portal? Depending on what Goetzinger does, you need a MB for depth purposes. Bultema and Williams are both capable but you are going to need another one just from a numbers standpoint. A DS and OH is what is coming in.
I would like to see another pin being brought in too. Lamb and DeLeye are great on the OH but unsure about the OPP. Wilson probably moves back there being her natural position and I believe Dailey was also moved there this year.

I'm pretty sure Goetzinger is gone as well going by social media.
Craig is going to have to try and get a top MB from the portal. Williams and Bultema are talented, but very unproven and there is no depth there at all.
I also think we need to add a big arm from the portal as well. No offense to Melby and Wilson, but imo they just aren't good enough to play big roles for a top program. Hannah Benjamin coming in next year could help fill the void, but hard to rely on freshmen.
Also, think it's time to start a Kentucky 2024 thread lol.

Well if MB wasn't an area of need before then it's absolutely critical now with Williams leaving. Obviously there's the portal, but I wonder if any 2024s open their recruitment back up. You never know. I guess we could move Dailey to middle in a pinch, but I'd hate to hit pause on her pin development.
My guess for now is Wilson plays Opp. I think the tourney games showed they want a back row attack option whenever the setter's front row, and Wilson has 6-ro experience from OU. Plus this way you get her serve, which I'm a little bummed we didn't get to see much of this past year.
Also I really like Benjamin. I think a couple places have her as a top-10 recruit? Not sure if she'll crack the rotation next season, but she reminds me a lot of Stumler and I'm excited to see her in blue.

Someone said in the portal thread we have a good chance at Sydney Nolan, MB in the portal from UNC. All-freshman in the ACC and from Kentucky so I think she would be a great pickup.
