I’d argue we were better with CC back in a cast. Not sure we beat Penn State without her 12 blocks.
That's a fair take and probably absolutely true. But Anna in the middle probably does OK too. CC was an absolute warrior in that match tho.

Maybe stress fractures again or something else. If it was stress fractures or shin issues again that could be worrisome. Might be compartment syndrome or some other underlying issue.

If they go to Istanbul, it's both Asia and Europe! And I think stay away from China as well. Yeah, come to think of it...

I love Crawford. She brought an "it" factor.. and lots of block touches.
If the setting was better both she and Smrek would have had more kills. Smrek didn't get the height on the set that she needed.

Are we on Bingo watch after tonight? Figure they have to be bringing in a piece or two. Even if just in supporting roles. Losing Demps as first off the bench when somone is struggling or hurt is a big blow to the depth. Plus with Liz and Anna moving on along with Hart you lose quite a bit leadership and alot of that energy from the bench as well as some serving specialists. Here's a question. Were we better the few matches CC was out with her finger surgery or better with her back wearing the cast? And if she was out for the season and the tournament run does Demps transfer? I love CC and she does so many small things that don't show up on a stat sheet. It's kind of like the Hart injury last year. It was devastating at the time but without it do we see Anna as Final Four MVP or Demps develop that back row attack. Maybe they win the title last year either way but maybe they don't. Watching an injured Hart on the bench mentoring and talking to Anna every time she was off the court really showed her leadership and commitment to the team. Butterfly effect type stuff. We were better with Crawford. It changes so many little things on so many points. And it's impossible to know without Demps saying something herself whether six (or less, if we don't beat Penn State or don't get a 1 seed because we lose a game or two against Nebraska or Ohio State as long as we're butterfly effecting the whole thing) games of playing full time would have changed things. What conversations are being had about next year? Did Sheffield envision her as the starter or as the super sub again with Wrobel filling the starting spot? Does Demps want a six rotation spot somewhere? We may know more when she lands somewhere, but it's just a what if party beyond that.

Need a lot of help in the back row If you're running a 6-2, and we will be, there aren't a lot of subs available to make use of "a lot of help in the back row". (And we already have a nationally rated libero/DS coming in.) You do not know we're running a 6-2. We may snag a setter.

She had too many backrow attack calls against her this year, and that’s a hard instinct to give up going after a ball.

Unless your opposite is playing six rotations, going from a 6-2 to a 5-2 doesn't save you anything on your sub count. (Or unless you mean for MJ to play six rotation like Fairfield (?) from Pitt was doing; setting across the back and playing opposite across the front. And I can't see that at all.)

Orzol would be in a better position to do that in my opinion. And I'm not advocating for that at all.

She seemed like a good team person. But whatever knee injury she suffered early really seemed to hamper her. I don't see her as the answer to take Harts spot.

I have no indication that she is moving on.

Yep, either we get a setter in the portal (I don’t think is likely), Izzy or MJ prove off-season that their blocking should put them in the front row or, the most likely IMO, we roll with a 6-2 again next year.
