If Sheff were to land TTA, then we would know his team building philosophies have shifted away from a development model toward more of a free agent model. I guess it’s inevitable. I mean, how else are you going to compete in this day and age? But I lose a lot of the connection to the team in the process. I love volleyball and I don’t mind winning at it, but it’s the stories of the players as they develop and mature over time that really tie me to a particular program. That always made the winning worth something. I think he's done it right with CC & Frank, with them both being here for more than 1 year (ie Clark, Barnes, Boyer). There's likely a need for one puzzle piece for next year, and for just one year, otherwise there's a 2024 logjam again. I don't see a ton of one-and-done type players coming to The Dungeon in the near future. I struggle with this, too. I’ve always loved the work mentality of the program and underdog-like attitude. That said, we’ve now tasted ultimate victory. If a TTA or other terminal player comes knocking for their final year, I think you entertain how that works while keeping it realistic with the athletes and current players. I say this wanting Wrobel to fully contribute next year.

TTA could be a unique case because you could consider it a big win for the U both athletically and academically if she’d choose Madison

This transfer rule sucks. It makes high school recruiting less exciting. Big schools never need to scout again, just hand them the final products. Maybe they should limit 1 transfer per year per school.

Are Hammel and Ashburn both for sure coming back? So the only starter Wisco loses is Hart correct?

Crawford was only a senior? Nice if so! Hart leaves. Crawford will be a senior in ‘23. It was said that she would have 3 years of eligibility here when she transferred. She could come back for a COVID year in 2024.

I believe Smrek, Orzol, Franklin, and Crawford all have the same eligibility left. Franklin(at MSU) and Crawford(at Kansas) were freshman in 2020 I believe and that is the free covid year. They have all had 2021 and 2022 count against their 4 years. So 2024 would be their last season. If one of them was unfortunately injured for a season I think they could stretch their eligibility to 2025 with a redshirt.

Quoting myself to add : Frank did redshirt due to injury, butt that was in her true freshman season of 2020-21, which doesn’t count anyway because of COVID. So though she was listed as being in a RS-So, I don’t think she’ll have an extra year of eligibility on top of the COVID year.

Be interesting to see how many of them are still here in 2024. Demps in the portal answers that question for her. Hard to see Robinson, Smrek, Franklin, or Crawford going anywhere but in the portal era nothing will truly be a shock. Hammill will be interesting with a high ranked setter coming in 2024. Will probably depend on if they switch out of the 6 - 2 after next season. Maybe they run a 6 - 2 Charlie's freshman year of she's still around and then switch after that. Probably depends on the depth of hitters and middles. Reed may want to transfer at some point for some playing time and to get her grad school paid for once she graduates.

Both Robinson and Franklin likely have Olympic and pro prospects so they could possibly impact whether they take their last year or not.
