I just spoke with the ticket office and with Badger Select, you do not give up your current seats until you select your new seats. Also, there will probably be little movement in the Gold-seating area. 20/20 hindsight; 1) If you donated heavily last year to get into a better giving level for the 1st Gold/Silver/Bronze seating assignments, you would have gotten "good" Gold seats that you might not try to improve on this season, and so, you could lower your giving level this year and still keep those "good" seats relatively cheaply. However, 2) [my words] if you donated at a low level for last year's seating assignments and received "bad" Gold seats, and then donated heavily this year, you certainly would not end up with the "good" seats received in 1).
I increased my donation last year to get into a better level for the seat assignments. I wish I had given even more to obtain even better seats so I could reduce my giving level this year. Question - Should I increase my donation this year in hopes that there might be better seats available? Is there a process to swap tickets with someone else, perhaps between lower/higher seats in the same section?

Somewhere along the way last year, Shanel Bramschreiber said something about wanting to come back/stay in Madison when she was done playing. She meant it. She's a new B1G Diversity Coordinator Intern at UW.

I wonder if when you put in your renewal request, if there is going to be a box or something to select if you want to change seats. Since the site says if you aren't changing your seats or adding tickets, nothing needs to be done. ... and if you do request a different seat location, in doing so, are you 'surrendering' your current location? That is, if you don't succeed in getting the new location (because of not enough donor points, etc), do you retain your old location, or end up getting moved to who-knows-where? You renew your current seats in May, which is when the deadline is for current season ticket holders. If you DON’T renew in May, then you’re surrendering your seats and have to jump back in with the new season ticket applicants who pick after current season ticket holders. This would be a bad idea, obviously. Badger Select isn’t required to participate in, so whatever seats you have will be locked in. We look at Badger Select FB every year, to see if the seats next to us ever open up, but they don’t, so we don’t do anything. Parking for FB is part of Badger Select, so that’s the only thing you might need to log in for, as they’ve gone to two levels for parking priority (lot 17 in zone B, with zone A being lot 16 and the small lot on the corner of Regent & Breese). I’d expect a very small amount of movement being possible, just simply from VB being an older demographic compared to other UW sports, with the passing of a few season ticket holders since last year. I’m not sure how much donor level/rank factors in to getting better seats, as I doubt there’s a strong correlation between being a high level donor and having Gold VB seats. I’d be very few of those in the $10K+ annual donor levels are getting VB tix to go along with their FB & BB box seats at Camp Randall and the Kohl Center. I guess we’ll have an idea once they announce Badger Select times, and you compare your slot to when Badger Select opens. For example, Badger Select for FB might open at noon on a Monday, but we’re so far down the food chain for FB that we don’t get to log in to do anything until Wednesday or Thursday, and there’s little for us to choose from. I’d expect to be far closer to the start in VB as a Directors Club donor, but I could be very wrong about that.

Question - Should I increase my donation this year in hopes that there might be better seats available? It’s not too late to do so, but the deadline is coming up soon. I think they generally lock in donor levels at the end of the football renewal period, as a significant majority of their donations are FB related. You might want to call the ticket office to discuss it, as you could stand to be in a better donor rank, but still be in the very bottom of that rank due to fewer priority points amongst that level. You could be at the top of your current level but then be at the bottom of the next level, which could possibly not be of any benefit to you. I definitely would NOT recommend doing this for FB or BB, but it could be worthwhile in VB.

I spoke to the Athletic Development office and they told me that the deadline to have my contributions counted for VB season tickets is May 19, the same day that applications are due. The March 15 deadline is only for football.

Latest from State Journal/Punzel:
A re-cap of sorts...with some thoughts about recruiting over time, and trying to put together the pre-conference schedule.

For anybody wondering about the math - "6 on 6", but no TTA, no Wrobel, no Damrow - I bumped into Liz Gregorski outside the Field House; she was on her way in, and I was coming from running a couple miles in "the Shell". She said she's still working out with the team, and will be playing in the spring matches. (She also said she'll have two years of eligibility when she gets to K-State, which is good news.

It's interesting that they have a hard time getting teams to play in the field house OOC. I wonder how much of that is down to Sheffield not wanting to play 3 matches in a weekend.

The March 15 deadline is only for football. My bad, I got it mixed up. If you want to be at a certain donor level for FB, you need to get all your donations in by a certain deadline (I think next week). We don’t get to where we want to be on FB seat donations alone, so we have to donate for BB well before the BB deadline comes up.

No discussion on here about two Badgers making the cut to train with the USWNT? We're falling down on the job.

Very happy for both Booth and Franklin for making the Collegiate National team!
I am curious why Robinson didn’t get an invite when she made the roster last year. Is it because she was an exclusive middle last year and an opposite this year?

Maybe Robinson will be training with the Sr National Team this summer instead…
This is conjecture by the way, but would be a lot of fun if true.
