Could watch Creighton @ Marquette basketball at a local sports bar Friday night (or in your hotel, that's probably what I'll do). I sure do miss the UA match being on Fridays.

I live in Omaha, so I can personally attest to the "scene" that many are going to be experiencing while here for the tournament. Inkwell, Wicked Rabbit, Nite Owl, Laka Lono Rum Club are the best cocktail bars in Omaha. Really great libations and beverage programs that are in the same breath of those in Chicago and NYC Do you also live in Chicago and NYC?

Random Trivia: Omaha Steaks do not come from Omaha. It’s just branding. (But there are good steaks here) We actually have a surprisingly (to west coasters) diverse food scene. Not going to pretend we’re Chicago or NYC, but if you want things like Sushi, Thai, Indian, African, there are surprisingly good options. Yo%*$#omo in Benson is one of the best "omakase" establishments in the entire country. It is PHENOMENAL EDIT: LOL to the censoring of "Y-O-S-H-I-T-O-M-O" Sounds nice. But again, how many other sushi joints have you been to? Also, just saying, I have never really had great experiences with sushi anywhere away from the ocean. I know ... airplanes. But still, just saying.

Our favorite restaurants in the Old Market are Blue Sushi and M's Pub. M's Pub is not really a pub, but they do have some creative dishes. Another district one block from the arena is called the Capitol District. They have several restaurants and bars and a modern jazz club called the Jewel that has good live Jazz.

I've lived in Japan, so I tend to prefer traditional sushi, but I have certainly been to a lot of good fusion sushi places on the West Coast. This place did not compare.

All are landlocked, far from the ocean and absolutely outstanding.

I lived in Hokkaido for about a year and loved it.

I was in Omaha for a cousins' wedding a while ago. I'd never been there. We stayed at some big hotel downtown (don't remember the name). Had to walk several blocks to get to an area with a few restaurants. They were fine but nothing worth noting. The city also seemed really dead on the weekends. Not intending to dis Omaha but it was almost eerie...
After the wedding reception on Saturday night, a bunch of us headed to the casinos across the river in Iowa. (They were about two miles away and I still don't understand why there were casinos in Iowa.)
I'd love to give a review of the casinos but, well, I don't remember that much...

Anyone seeking sushi or any seafood in Omaha over steak or ribs deserves the results ... jj As a native of Omaha, I would say that steak is a bit over-rated as steak seems to be similar in many other places around the world, including Japan. Conversely, after living in Japan for several years, I also think that sushi in Omaha is really not bad and I agree that the sushi place in Benson is not bad at all.
