Texas fans' inability to be objective about their coaching also happens every week on this board and it's boring I just don’t understand the JE hate hysteria. I don't hate JE. Nor am I hysterical about it. But the reason Texas is successful isn't because of his coaching or training.

It’s fine if you think he’s bad—I’m not going to change your opinion about that. But here is how the argument ALWAYS goes: “JE is a terrible coach.” “Well, what about *numerous statistics a terrible coach wouldn’t be able to achieve*?” “Yeah but he’s only won one championship.” It’s a bit like saying “You’re really poor” “I make $10k a month” “Yeah but you don’t make $40k a month” Sure, you’d be richer if you made four times as much. JE would be respected more as a coach if he won 4 times as many championships. But 10k a week isn’t poor, and 10 final fours in 15 years (which yes, is not good enough, and I hope to get more championships soon) is not poor performance Moving the goalposts is a logical fallacy, it’s asinine, and it’s not getting JE fired, sorry

Yeah, that's why Jim Moore was so successful at Texas. Oh, wait. All he did was drive Haley's proud program into the ground and then Jerritt had to rebuild it from rock bottom.

Interesting to note that both teams starting setter is a transfer from the Pac-12. Saige from Utah and Raquel from USC Might be the first time in championship match history that neither team has a setter who the voters deemed better than All-American Honorable Mention . . .

If Texas wins the Natty, will JE retire? Will Deputy Erik Sullivan retire too?

Wow, some of these Texas fans are something else. I think my personal favorite was the one who was decrying logical fallacies as they attacked straw men. I didn't think it would be necessarily, since what I said was perfectly clear, but just to get a few things on record (i.e. debunking the straw men):
1. I don't think Jerritt Elliott is a bad coach, much less a terrible one 2. I don't think he's a loser 3. I don't hate him
I never said any of that, yet these were the straw men that were beaten into the ground. The only thing I said was that I think DBK is a better coach, and I stand by that. Oh, and that I think given the talent he's had, one national championship is a bit of an underperformance. I stand by that too.
Elliott is one of the best recruiters in the country, perhaps the best. And in sports, a big talent gap is often enough to win even if the less talented team is better coached. This is true in the regular season and in the earlier rounds of the tournament. But as you get deeper into the tournament, that talent gap often shrinks or disappears (or even favors the other team). When that happens, differences in coaching ability get magnified. This is why better coached but less talented teams can often beat more talented teams if the gap in talent isn't too big to overcome. This really isn't a hard concept.
I expect Texas to win tomorrow because they're more talented. But if they don't, it will probably be due to DBK's superior coaching.
