Tennessee dealt with injuries but finished strong in the back of the season. They were very dominant at the end of the season. Didn't they lose to Alabama the last weekend of the season

Yes, they did. I thought it might keep them out of the tournament, but it didn't.

They will be very good this year. A healthy Fingall is arguably the best player in the conference. She might not benefit from the same level of setting as some other pins, but all things being equal, she's one of the last people I'd want to try and defend.

Didn't they lose to Alabama the last weekend of the season Yes, I forgot about that. But, I think it was when their injured players were just coming back. Fingall is awesome. And, if I remember correctly, their middle is great too. (not sure if she will be back this season.) My earlier post was wrong. It was Auburn that did well with the mostly freshmen team. But the Ole Miss libero still sticks out in my mind as being VERY, VERY good. One other point is that many of the now senior girls missed two seasons of college development. They were sent home in 2020 in March, and then in 2021, they were playing the schedule that was broken up into a Fall and Spring season. So the "fifth" year seniors/grad students have now had two years of college coaching during off-season - their junior year and senior year. I think this made a difference in play in 2022, as they only had the opportunity for one full spring semester of college development/position coaching. In other words, in 2020 and 2021, even though they were practicing with the team and playing college games, their skill level was "probably" highly influenced by whether they played for an elite club or had many private lessons in high school. Just a thought.......

Thinking about Florida's lineup. If you DS for your Opposite, which they would be expected to do, that allows your OH1 (next to Stuckey) to not pass as much. But your OH2 needs to pass in 6 ro's. I think that puts them in an interesting spot. I don't see either of those big freshmen pins passing, that would put them in the OH1 spot, hypothetically carrying a huge distribution. This because they have no backrow Opp attacking presence and they lost their high distribution M1. And that puts Sophia in the OH2 spot with more passing responsibility but less overall distribution. That's gonna put a lot of the match in the hands of a freshman pin and whoever they go with as their M1 to side out in those 4-2 rotations.

I think that would make the most sense from the distribution standpoint but the OH2 has to be in the passing pattern multiple times. I don't know what those freshmen are gonna do against the serving speed in the top half of the conference.

is arkansas returning most of their players this season? Both lefts Jill Gillen, Taylor Head, the best right Maggie Cartwright, their Libero Courtney Jackson and setter Hannah Hogue. That's a pretty important core, most notably the three passers who made up the best passing backcourt in the conference last year.

I’m slow on the uptake. Has the SEC had its volleyball media day yet? I have read all about the BIG days but haven’t seen reports from other conferences.
Info?
