Arkansas getting Tennessee and Kentucky Friday/Sunday. Ouch. The scheduling demons at the SEC hate the Hogs. It's just science.

literally! Losing Larkin killed their season before it even started Exactly. Losing Larkin changed the way this season would have gone. Robinson has been a revelation being able to carry such a large load so early in her career. She is doing a damn good job. But she has not had help this year. I know coach Johnson wishes she could get a few more sets to Anwusi in the middle for sure. But IMO what sticks out to me for LSU is that they have a number of veteran hitters in Hill/Dotson/Flickinger/Demps all just not performing well. All of those players being graduate students/seniors that just aren’t performing. In addition to having a revolving door at MB2 with Lee/Roberson/Williams. Programs should be able to rely on their veteran players, but they are struggling more than the younger players. Coach Johnson needs time to get her type of players in this gym. Losing your starting Libero + veteran players underperforming = a bad season. This LSU team has 8 seniors/graduate students and 7 freshmen, Johnson needs time to bring in her players before I can really start asking questions about her. LSU needs a roster reset IMO. Johnson will use the portal to try to fill in the gaps. Only question is Will Robinson be willing to wait until maybe her junior year for LSU to gain steam around her.

I just don’t see the same excuse with A&M on year 1 head coach. Coaches in this day and age of NIL and transfer portal , shouldn’t need time to get the players… if you’re not competing right away, your seat is hot… that’s just the reality.

She dipped into the portal a bit this Pat off-season and losing Larkin was not a surprise to the staff. But I agree, let’s see what she brings in over the next year or so. Rome should also be healthy enough to take over setting position based on the hype. Agree with Robinson…let’s get her some NIL $$ to keep her happy for another year!😂

SEC weekend to determine the championship front runner. Arkansas goes to Tennessee then Kentucky. If Tennessee wins, probably regain control, unless Kentucky also wins. Arkansas wins both and they’re in the drivers seat. Arkansas wins one and not the other then it’s a juicy 3 or 4 team race which a team like TAMU/Auburn would love to spoil with a significant win in the back half of the schedule.

I think this adds some significance to the TAMU v Florida rematch this weekend, as well.

This upcoming weekend is so exciting for SEC fans!
With the way the SEC is shaping up, Arkansas and Tennessee only playing each other once is a huge advantage for the SEC title. Tennessee also only has to prepare for Arkansas this week, whereas Arkansas has to prep for both UT and UK. If UT wins, I think they have to be the favorite, just given their remaining schedule.
I think Arkansas's serving is going to be the X factor this weekend. They are tough servers, and both UT and UK have had passing struggles this season. However, if Arkansas doesn't serve tough enough, I worry about their left side block against both Finghall and Rutherford.

I guess I have a different take on this season… the team (minus Larkin) that went to the tournament and won the first round is still there. Those veteran players that you speak of are who got them to the tournament…so what’s different? Maybe the on court vibe just isn’t there with the new players? TJ and staff needs to figure this out…. It’s time to do some coaching! They should roll Alabama this weekend and maybe that will help some. TJ is probably just trying to keep her franchise player happy so she doesn’t go portal shopping for something better in the spring. Get it together LSU!
